Big Bash League, popularly known as BBL, is an Australian T20 league inaugurated in 2011 by Cricket Australia. The league is not confined only to Australia but is famous globally among cricket fans. Many players worldwide participate in this league to get exposure and show what they are capable of. We’ve witnessed from many brilliant batting performances to extraordinary bowling performances to magnificent fielding efforts in the BBL over the years. Taking wickets at regular intervals is important in any form of the game to get over the line. Here we are going to talk about ten players who’ve been consistent in picking wickets from the last decade in the league. Let’s have a look at the top 10 wicket-takers in BBL to date. 

10. Fawad Ahmed

Fawad Ahmed is a right-arm Pakistan-origin leg spinner who is an Australian cricketer since receiving his citizenship in 2013. He has been part of BBL since 2013 and has played for several franchises. He is one of the most successful players in BBL. The spin whiz picked 75 wickets in 82 matches which helps him get into the top ten list. His best figures include 4/14. 

9. Cameron Boyce

Cameron John Boyce is an Australian right-arm leg-break bowler who currently plays for Melbourne Renegades. He was described as “the best leggie I’ve ever seen in first-class cricket since Shane Warner” by former test spinner Ashley Mallett. Corresponding to the word by Ashley, Cameron picked up 79 wickets in 76 matches by maintaining an economy of 7.65.  

8. James Faulkner

James Peter Faulkner is a left-arm medium-pace, Australian all-rounder. He is known for his finishing skills with the bat and his skills in the power-play and death overs with the ball. After playing 70 matches, he picked up 80 wickets combined for Melbourne Stars and Hobart Hurricanes. He succeeded in picking wickets at regular intervals and providing crucial breakthroughs for his team whenever he is asked to ball. 

7. Daniel Christian

Daniel Trevor Christian is an Australian all-rounder regarded as a T20 specialist and has vast experience of playing for different franchises around the globe. Trevor is known for his power-hitting game and intelligent bowling. He has the ability and the skill to bowl in any phase of the game. He has picked 82 wickets in 104 matches which are exceptional numbers for an all-rounder.  

6. Ben Dwarshuis

Ben James Dwarshuis is a left-arm fast-medium pacer from Kareela, Australia. He’s been playing for Sydney Sixers since 2014 and has been consistent every since. The speedster always troubles the batsmen with his line and length with the new ball and he has a perfect variety of deliveries for the death overs in his arsenal. He played 69 matches for the Sixers and picked 85 wickets.  

5. Adam Zampa

Adam Zampa is a right-arm leg spinner who represents the Australian National team. He played for several BBL franchises since 2012 and bagged 88 wickets in just 75 matches. The spin wizard proved to be a genius wicket-taker and can turn the game in his team’s favor whenever required. 

4. Andrew Tye

Known for his creative bowling display and knack for picking wickets, Andrew James Tye is ranked fourth in the list with 93 wickets in 69 matches, which is quite incredible. The right-arm fast-medium pacer has been instrumental throughout his BBL career, which includes a five-wicket haul against the Melbourne Stars.  

3. Kane Richardson

Kane William Richardson is a South Australian quickie who plays for the Melbourne Renegades. He has been an integral part of Renegades for many years. He is known for consistently firing the ball over 140kms/hrs. Kane scalped 98 wickets in his BBL career by playing 79 matches. 

 

2. Sean Abbott

Sean Anthony Abbott is a right-arm fast-medium pacer from New South Wales. He is known as a specialist T20 bowler and has always delivered his best for his side. From picking wickets regularly to breaking partnerships, there is nothing that  Sean couldn’t offer. He achieved the three-figure mark by bagging 106 wickets in just 80 matches, which is extraordinary for a modern-day pacer. 

1. Ben Laughlin

Ben Laughlin is one of the most iconic players in BBL history. The right-arm fast Australian International has been part of the BBL since its inaugural season. Ben tops the list with 111 wickets in just 96 matches. He proved his mettle by being consistent in picking wickets which bore him fruits over the last decade.
