The Test Matches are one of the three established forms of cricket played between two international cricket teams. It is a pure test of the quality and pertinacity of the player. Most people believe that this format is the only way of acknowledging the original game. The form requires a prepared strategy to withstand and succeed in the battle. The first-ever test match was played in 1877.

1. JM Anderson

He played 161 games and scored 12472 runs with an average of 45.35 with 33 centuries.

3. SCJ Broad

Stuart Cristopher John Broad is a left-hand batter and right-arm fast-medium bowler in the England cricket team. He made his Test debut in the year 2007. The player has a remarkable career in bowling and holds the record for taking the second-highest number of wickets in test cricket with a wicket count of 524. SCJ Broad has bowled in 149 matches with a bowling average of 27.84. His economy is 2.93, and he has taken 18 five-wicket hauls and three ten-wicket hauls.

7. DI Gower

David Ivon Gower is a former left-hand top-order batter on the English side. He began his test career against Pakistan at Birmingham in 1978 and his last match against Pakistan at The Oval in 1992. David played 117 games and scored 8231 runs with an average of 44.25 and 18 centuries.

8. MA Atherton

Michael Andrew Atherton is a former right-hand opening batter on the English side. He played his first test match against Australia at Nottingham in 1989 and his last game against Australia in 2001. Mike played 115 games and scored 7728 runs with an average of 37.69 and 16 centuries.

9. MC Cowdrey

Michael Colin Cowdrey was a former right-hand batter on the English side. He began his test debut against Australia at Brisbane in 1954 and his last match against Australia at Melbourne in 1975. Colin played 114 games and scored 7624 runs with an average of 44.06 and 22 centuries.

10. JE Root

Joseph Edward Root is a right-arm top-order batter and the current Captain of the England test squad.
