The One Day International Matches are one of the three approved formats of cricket played between two international cricket teams. The first-ever ODI game played between Australia and England was held on 5 January 1971. John Edrich, the opener in the England team, was titled 'the man of the match.'

The ODI matches include a maximum of 50 overs and the two teams their respective innings until all the players in the team get out. The team with the maximum runs wins the game. Usually, the ODI matches include a series of 3 -5 plays.

1. EJ Morgan

Eoin Joseph Gerard Morgan is a left-hand batter and right-arm medium pacer in the England cricket team. He is a middle-order batter and has done occasional wicket keeping for the team. The cricketer made his ODI debut on 5 August 2006 against Scotland at Ayr and became the ODI Captain in 2011. Morgan has played 124 matches and has registered a win in 74 of them. The win percentage in the game was 64.65%. His captaincy tenure spanned ten years, starting in 2011.

2. CM Edwards

Charlotte Edwards is a former right-hand batter and leg-break bowler in the England women's cricket team. Her international career lasted for 20 years, and during 10 of these years, she captained the England women's cricket team. She has played 117 matches and won 72 of them. Edwards missed 40 games, and her win percentage remained 64.45%. Her captaincy tenure lasted for 11 years, starting from 2005 to 2016.

3. AN Cook

Alastair Nathan Cook is a former left-hand batter and right-arm slow bowler in the England cricket team. Nicknamed the Cooky, he is one of the most praised cricketers of all time who played the role of an opening batsman in the England cricket team and was the ODI captain for four years. AN Cook played 69 matches and won 36 of them. The win percentage in the games was 54.47%.

4. CL Connor

Clare Joanne Conor is a former right-hand batter and slow left-arm bowler in England's women's cricket team. Popular as Des O, she became the first player to play in the Cricketer Cup. Conner has played 66 matches and registered a win in 26 of them. She lost 39 of them. The win percentage in the game was 40%. She captained the team for five years, starting from 2000.

5. AJ Strauss

Andrew John Strauss is a former left-hand batter and right-arm medium bowler. He is supposed to be one of the most successful England captains of all time. His captaincy spanned for five years, starting from 2005 to 2011. Strauss has played 62 matches and won 27 of them. He lost 38 games, and his win percentage was 45.08%.

6. MP Vaughan

Michael Paul Vaughan is a right-hand batter and right-arm off-break bowler. Nicknamed Frankie, he ensured his spot in the English sporting history by becoming the first captain to win the Ashes series. Vaughan played 60 matches and won 32 of them. His win percentage was 58.92%. His captaincy tenure was for four years, starting in 2003.

7. HC Knight

Heather Clare Knight is a right-arm batter and right-arm off-break bowler in England's women's cricket team who made her debut in 2010. She is a top-order batter. Knight became the captain of the team in 2016 and is the present captain of the England team. She played 57 matches and won 40 of them. Her win percentage was 71.42%.

8. N Hussain

Nasser Hussain is a former right-hand batter and leg-break bowler in the England cricket team. The player was a top-order batter and was popularly known as Nashwan. Hussain became the ODI captain of the team in 1997 and retained it till 2003. Under his captaincy, he played 56 matches, out of which he won 28 and lost 27. The winning percentage in the games was 50.90%. He resigned from all forms of cricket in 2004.

9. GA Gooch

Graham Alam Gooch is a former right-hand batter and right-arm medium pacer in the England cricket team. Nicknamed the Goochie, the player was the captain of the team in ODI for five years, starting from 1988 to 10 January 1993. He has played 50 matches and won 24 of them. His win percentage was 50.06%.

10. K Smithies

Karen Smithies is a former left-hand batter and right-arm medium bowler. Also popular as Karen Hicken, she is famous for leading England to their second World Cup victory. Smithies became the captain of the team in 1990 and retained the post for the next ten years. She played 45 matches, won 23 of them, and missed 21 games. Her win percentage was 52.27%.
