Success and failure are part of any game, but cricket is a sport where you must consistently be at the top of your game, or somebody better will always be there to replace you. A player could have played brilliantly in 10 matches, but the audience will never forget if he does not play well in a single game. Here are the names of a few cricketers who failed to impress on an international level.

1. Dinesh Karthik

Karthik has failed to live up to the expectations in the international market; he has only managed to secure 94 in the ODI matches since his debut in 2004. Dinesh has not been featured in the Indian cricket team over the last two years and was last seen in 2019, though he feathered out in the IPL for KKR.

2. Ajay Sharma

Sharma is the first run-maker in first-class cricket, mainly for Delhi; he scored over 10,000 runs at the highest average of 67.46, the third-highest. Due to his mind-blowing performance, Ajay got a chance to play in the Indian Cricket Team. He was a gem of Indian domestic cricket in the 1980s and 1990s but could only make 424 runs out in the total ODIs. It was the  biggest disappointment as he couldn't achieve anything virtually like an international batsman.

3. Manoj Tiwary

Manoj made his first-class and List A debut in 2004; he also earned a Team India call-up for a high-profile tri-series in Australia in 2008. Tiwary was known for his aggressive batting on the pitch but only played 12ODIs and three T20s for India, managing to score only one hundred against West Indies before going out of contention. His career is now limited to the domestic field.

4. Akash Chopra

Chopra and Virender Sehwag had been a top-class opening pair for Delhi, which other opponent bowlers feared. Akash registered 10839 runs in 162 first-class games at an average of 45.35, including 29 centuries. He scored 437 in 10 matches he played for India in 2003-04 but never made it to the Indian team because the audience was disappointed in him. Additionally, he failed to live up to international expectations.

5. Maninder Singh

Singh made his test debut at the age of 17 in 1982 against Pakistan and is the successor to Bishan Singh Bedi, but he could never play as well as him. The audience expected him to break all records, but he failed. Maninder now is a commentator to remain connected to the game. In his entire career, Singh played 35 Tests and 59 ODIs, and managed 88 and 66 wickets at an average of 37.36 and 31.3, respectively.

6. Venu Gopal Rao

Yalaka Venugopal Rao was the first Indian super-sub in ODI cricket. People expected him to be India's best bet in the ODI format of the game, but he somehow failed to live up to those expectations and received several negative comments for his slow batting. A considerable portion of his career was played for his home Andhra Pradesh in 2005-06. He had just 218 runs in 11 innings, which led to him not being recognized internationally.

7. Robin Uthappa

Robin had a successful debut, making 86 runs as an opening batsman. He also played a vital role in the 2007 ICCC World Twenty, where India won. Uthappa currently plays for Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL. Even though he is one of the best players in IPL, he has dropped out of the international team and has failed to make it in the global scenario for the past few years.

8. Nayan Mongia

Mongia had an extraordinary career that he ruined by involvement in match-fixing, after which his name had been removed from the paper. Still, suspicion had already been created among the audience. The team was required to score at the rate of six per hour against West Indies, and Nayan batted as if he had no care in the world. In addition, he was only defending the balls. It was disappointing for the team and the audience, after which there was no longer much career prospectus for him in cricket.

9. Vinod Kambli

Kambli was a childhood mate of Sachin Tendulkar; however, he didn't have the discipline and determination likeSachin did. Vinod was constantly distracted by the outside world and was never wholly focused on cricket. He remained in and out of the team with many chances but lost the urge to play the game exceedingly early, especially after the dramatic end to India's World Cup in 1996 against Sri Lanka.

10. Amol Muzumdar

Muzumdar scored 260 in his Ranji Trophy debut, which continues to be a world record for the highest score made on a first-class debut, under Ravi Shastri captaincy, against Haryana in 1993-94. There was no doubt that he would be a valuable player if he had an application in international cricket. However, Amol didn't get any place in the Indian middle-order because it included players like Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman, and Sourav Ganguly.
