Contrary to their neighboring country Australia, the New Zealand players are always known to be sportsmanlike and friendly off and on the field. Along with the friendliness, they also have a massive impact on cricket. Their country has produced some of the finest cricketers. Below are a few of them.

1. Sir Richard Hadlee

Sir Richard is a legendary Kiwi bowler who is the finest fast bowler this world has seen. His run-up was so accurate that sometimes he would knock off the bails at the bowler’s end. Most of the wickets were LBWs, caused due to the perfect lines bowled. At the beginning of his career, he bowled at unplayable speeds but later focused on precision. He hung his boots in 1990 after claiming 432 test wickets. Not only was he a star bowler, but he was also an aggressive batsman who hit the boundaries.

2. Daniel Vettori

Vettori has a contrasting definition of sportsmanship and has proved it on many occasions. The most famous one was when he refused to shake hands with an England captain after their loss. This same man refused to run the opposition batsman out because he had pushed him unintentionally. This all-rounder is a middle-order batsman and a seamer who scalped 362 tet and 305 ODI wickets.

3. Brendon Mccullum

Every IPL fan knows this man. He scored a cracking and unbeaten 158 on the opening night of the league. Brendon is a very aggressive and flamboyant batsman, a rare combination. Nobody plays test cricket with as much aggression as he does. Baz has numerous records to his name, the most prolific one being his triple century. He is also an effective wicketkeeper who has come a long way from being unsportsmanlike to apologizing to Sangakkara.

4. Martin Crowe

Similar to Williamson, Crowe was known for his elegance and smooth batting.  This youngster was appointed New Zealand's captain in 1990 and led the team for three years. He scored 17 test centuries in which he stayed not out only once. He totaled 5,444 Test runs and 4,704 ODI runs, which were New Zealand records then.

5. Kane Williamson

Williamson is probably the warmest, most admirable cricketer currently. He always wears a charming smile, regardless of the game’s outcome. Now that defines a true sportsperson. His refined and elegant batting was expected to become the spine of their country’s cricket when he played in the under-19 tournament. He has batting averages of 52.45 in test matches and 47.5 in ODI. Kudos to this outstanding player, and the world still has a lot to see of him.

6. Stephen Fleming

This calm and composed man is the current head coach of Chennai super kings. When he captained New Zealand, he was hailed as the best to play the role in cricket. Straight drives and cover drives were some of this left-hander's beautiful shots. Fleming scored over 15000 international runs.

7. Ross Taylor

Ross Taylor has made 40 centuries in cricket. 19 in Tests, and 21 in ODIs. This aggressive batsman has scored 7,683 runs in test cricket and 8,607 runs in ODIs. His test high score is an unbeaten 290. New Zealand won the test championship with a comfortable four from Taylor, which seemed the best finish, given his contributions to cricket.

8. Chris Cairns

Cairns is of the best all-rounders to have played the game and is considered a legend amongst the Black Caps. He was at his zenith during the 1999-2000 season. He retired from Test cricket with 8270 international runs, holding the record for the most sixes hit - 87. Now, that record stands with fellow New Zealander Brendon McCullum with 107.

9. Shane Bond

Fast bowler careers are usually plagued with injuries, and many people bounce back quickly. But bond's career could have been much more successful if not for his injuries. Despite all that, he is a dangerous bowler to have played the game and scalped 147 ODI wickets in 81 innings. In his 8-year stint for his country, he once helped them to reach the WorldCup Semi-finals.

10. Glenn Turner

The Dunedin native made his debut in 1969 in a test match. He was highly respected in his playing days and participated in 3 world matches. He also scored 171* against Africa, the highest ODI score then.
