The Asia Cup cricket tournament is a multi-nation tournament involving some of the best cricketing nations from the Asian continent. The matches in the tournament are played in Twenty-20 (T20) and One-Day (50-over) formats every alternate edition. Pakistan is one of the participating teams in the contest. Today, in the following list, we shortlist some of the highest totals scored by the Pakistan team in the Asia Cup (50-over).

1. Against Bangladesh In 2010

The first game to feature on the list is the 2010 Asia Cup game against Bangladesh, played at Dambulla, Sri Lanka. After winning the toss, Pakistan elected to bat first. Shahid Afridi was Pakistan’s most successful batter, scoring a quick-fire 124 runs off 60 balls. Imran Farhat scored a brilliant 66 runs off 77 balls. The Pakistan team scored 385 runs in their 50 overs, the highest total in the Asia Cup.

2. Against Hong Kong In 2004

Pakistan faced Hong Kong in the 2004 Asia Cup match held in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The toss was in Pakistan’s favor, and they opted to bat first. Pakistan's batting saw two batters score centuries. Younis Khan scored 144 runs off 122 balls, and Shoaib Malik scored 118 runs off 110. The two centuries steered the Pakistani total to 343 runs off 50 overs.

3. Against Bangladesh In 2014

In 2014, Pakistan faced Bangladesh at the Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur. The Bangladesh team, winning the toss, decided to bat first and put up a massive 326 runs on the board. The Pakistani team, chasing 327 in 50 overs, scored 329 runs at the loss of five wickets with only one ball remaining. Ahmed Shehzad top scored for Pakistan with 103 runs off 123 balls.

4. Against India In 2012

The next match to feature on the list is Pakistan’s 2012 Asia Cup match against their arch-rivals, India. After winning the toss, the Pakistani team opted to bat and put 329 runs on the board. Nasir Jamshed scored 112 runs off 104 balls, and Mohammad Hafeez scored 105 runs off 113. The Indian team, however, chased the target with six wickets and 13 balls remaining.

5. Against Bangladesh In 2000

The next match on the list is from the 2002 Asia Cup when Pakistan faced Bangladesh in Dhaka. After winning the toss, Pakistan elected to bat first and scored 320 runs at the loss of three wickets in 50 overs. Imran Nazir and Mohammad Yousuf scored 80 runs each and helped Pakistan post a massive total on the board.

6. Against Bangladesh In 1997

The next match to feature is the final of the 1997 Asia Cup match between Pakistan and Bangladesh. Winning the toss, Pakistan elected to bat first and put 319 runs on the board at the loss of five wickets. Saeed Anwar top scored for Pakistan with 90 runs off 94 balls, and Inzamam-ul-Haq scored a brilliant 77 runs off 68 balls.

7. Against India In 2008

In a 2008 Asia Cup match against India, Pakistan scored one of their highest totals in the Asia Cup. After winning the toss, the Indian team elected to bat first and scored 308 runs in their 50 overs. In reply, the Pakistan batters chased the 309-run target in the 46th over, with Younis Khan hitting a magnificent 123 runs off 117 balls.

8. Against India In 2004

In the 2004 Asia Cup, Pakistan scored another of their highest Asia Cup totals at Colombo, Sri Lanka. After winning the toss, Pakistan elected to bat first and put up 300 runs in 50 overs. Shoaib Malik was the highest run-getter for Pakistan, scoring a dazzling 143 runs off just 127 balls. Pakistan successfully defended the total and won the match by 59 runs.

9. Against India In 2008

Pakistan faced arch-rivals India in Karachi on June 26, 2008. After winning the toss, the Pakistani team opted to bat first and put up 299 runs on the board. Shoaib Malik’s fantastic 125 runs off 119 balls, and Younis Khan’s 59 runs helped Pakistan set India a substantial 300-run target. The Indian team chased the target in the 43rd over with six wickets remaining.

10. Against India In 2000

In the 2000 Asia Cup, the Pakistan team scored 295 runs against India in Dhaka, Bangladesh. After winning the toss, Pakistan chose to bat first. Mohammad Yousuf scored a brilliant 100 runs off 112 balls. The Pakistani bowlers then successfully defended the total and won the match by a 44-run margin.
