1. 43 Vs South Africa (ODI)

The Lowest international total by the Sri Lankan cricket team came against South Africa in 2012. In the 1st ODI of the 2012 Sri Lanka tour of South Africa, the home team put a heavy target of 302 runs against Sri Lanka. But the Sri Lankan batting order collapsed against the South African Bowling wall. The team got all out in 20.1 overs and scored only 43 runs. They had four ducks in this match, and only one batter could reach to double-digit score. Such a performance by the world cup runner-up was a huge setback then. Sri Lanka not only lost the match but also lost the series by 3-2.

2. 55 Vs West Indies (ODI)

The second-lowest team total of Sri Lanka came against West Indies in 1986. The score came up in the last game of the Sri Lanka vs West Indies ODI series. In the first inning, the Sri Lankan team restricted the West Indies to 248/5. But against this, the team collapsed on 55 runs only. Roger Harper and Courtney Walsh were way too harsh on Sri Lankan batters that day. Combinedly they both took 7 wickets in 13.3 overs by sparing just 9 runs. Walsh even completed his 5-wicket haul in this match.

3. 67 Vs England (ODI)

The third-lowest team total of Sri Lanka came during their 2014 tour of Ireland and England. In the third ODI against England played in Manchester, the Sri Lankan team all out in 24 overs by only scoring 67 runs. No Sri Lankan batter could score more than 15 runs in this match. Such a performance by then T20 champions was very disappointing. The England team chased the score in just 12 overs without losing any wickets.

4. 71 Vs Pakistan (Test)

71 against Pakistan is the 4th lowest cricketing score of Sri Lanka came in the captainship of Arjuna Ranatunga. It is also the lowest test score of the Sri Lankan team. The score came in the third test match of the Pakistan tour of Sri Lanka in 1994. The home team collapsed at a score of 71 in the first inning. Only one Sri Lankan batsman reached to double-digit score. Later, the Sri Lankan team lost this match by 52 runs and an inning.

5. 73 Vs Pakistan (Test)

The 5th lowest team total of Sri Lanka again came against Pakistan in 2006. In the second test of the series, Sri Lanka scored 279 in the first inning and then restricted the opposition to 170. However, the Pakistan team bounced back in the second inning and all out the home team at mere 73 runs. Pakistan chased this score smoothly and won the game by 8 wickets.

6. 73 Vs India (ODI)

This score came in 2023 itself. The Sri Lankans had already lost the three-match ODI series against the host India. In the final ODI, India put a target of 390 runs. But the visitors collapsed at the score of 73 only in 22 overs. No batter could cross the score of 20, and India won the match by 317 runs. It is also the highest winning margin for India.

7. 76 Vs New Zealand (ODI)

2023 did not start well for the Sri Lankan cricket team. In January only, one more low total came for the. In the first ODI against New Zealand in Auckland, the visitors restricted the hosts to 274 in 49.3 overs. The target was fighting, but Sri Lanka collapsed on 76 runs in just 19.5 overs. No batter crossed the score of 20 in this match as well. Henry Shipley completed his 5-wicket haul for NZ in this match, and the home team won by massive 198 runs.

8. 78 Vs Pakistan (ODI)

It was the Sharjah Cup Finale between Pakistan and Sri Lanka on April 17, 2002. New Zealand, the third team in the tournament, could not qualify. In the finals, Pakistan gave a target of 296 runs to Sri Lanka. It wasn’t easy for the Sri Lankan team against the lethal Pakistani bowling attack. And it proved to be the same. The Sri Lankan team collapsed on mere 78 runs. The Pakistani bowling giants Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, and Shoaib Akhtar took all the 10 wickets and shook off the Sri Lankan batters.

9. 81 Vs England (Test) 

This score came up in 2001 during England’s tour of Sri Lanka. In the third test match, Sri Lanka scored 241 runs. England also collapsed after getting a lead of just 8 runs, at the score of 249. The game was competitive, but in the 2nd inning, Sri Lanka scored only 81 runs in 28.1 overs. This proved the ninth-lowest score of Sri Lanka. However, the target was not a cakewalk for England. In chasing the target of mere 74 runs, they spared 6 wickets. Sri Lanka fought well but lost the match.

10. 82 Vs India (T20)

This score came in the 3rd T20 against India, played in 2016. This is also the lowest T20 score of Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka batted first. However, they could not face the lethal Indian spin attack, which included Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and part-timer Suresh Raina. They collapsed at 82 runs in 18 overs. India did not allow any player to cross the score of 20 runs. The home team then chased the target smoothly in 13.5 overs.
