The Scoring century is not a piece of cake. Every cricketer, in his entire career, looks for an opportunity to score a century, especially in test matches. Test matches are the opportunities for the bowlers too, to score at least a century. Many cricketers are capable of hitting centuries but couldn’t score one. Sri Lanka also has some of such cricketers who are not lucky enough to score a century in any of the cricket forms. Following is the list of 10 Sri Lanka cricketers who have scored the most runs without a century in their career:

1. Chamara Kapugedera

From 2006 to 2017, Chamara Kapugedera played for the Sri Lankan national team as a right-handed middle-order batsman. His international career ended in December 2019. It was his 2,745 runs, not a century, that moved him into the top spot on the list.

2. Paul Chandana

Sri Lankan cricketer Paul Chandana was an all-rounder for 13 years between 1994 and 2007. His right-hand batsmanship was complemented by his right-arm leg-break bowling skills. The test match against Australia in April 1994 marked Paul's international debut. Amongst the Sri Lankan batsmen at number 9, he holds the highest individual score (92), Paul scored 2,243 runs without making a century, which made him into the second position on this list.

3. Kumar Dharmasena

The Sri Lankan cricketer Kumar Dharmasena was a crucial member of the 1996 ICC World Cup Sri Lankan Cricket Squad. He is a former All-rounder with Right-arm off-break bowling as well as Right-hand batting. In his cricket career, Kumar took 207 wickets in 141 ODIs and 31 tests. With 2,090 runs without a century, he is in the third position on this list.

4. Chandika Hathurusingha

A Sri Lankan former All-rounder with Right-handed batting and Right-arm medium-fast bowling Chandika Hathurusingha made his international debut in February 1991, with a test match against New Zealand. Between 2014 and 2017, he was the head coach of the Bangladesh cricket team. He scored 1,943 international runs without a century, which made him placed in the fourth position on this list.

5. Muttiah Muralitharan

Muttiah Muralitharan is one of the most successful bowlers of all time with 1,347 international wickets. He played 133 tests, 350 ODIs, 12 T20s. With 1,936 runs without century, it brings him into the fifth position.

6. Nuwan Kulasekara

He is the only Sri Lankan bowler who ranked in the first position of the ICC ODI Bowlers Rankings. He is a former Right-arm medium-fast bowler and played in all formats of international cricket from 2004 – 2017. Also, Kulasekara is the only bowler of T20 innings who completed a bowling spell with 0.00 economy. He is in the sixth position in this list with 1,933 runs and no century.

7. Ranga Herath

A former Sri Lankan slow left-arm bowler Ranga Herath is currently the spin bowling coach of the Bangladesh National Cricket Team. He is also known for being the best left-arm bowler in test matches as well as the Dialog Test Bowler of the year 2015. With 1,847 runs and no century, he is into the seventh position on this list.

8. Farveez Maharoof

The captain of Under- 19 Cricket World Cup 2004 Farveez Maharoof is a former all-rounder with right-handed batting and right-arm medium-fast bowling. He made his International Test cricket debut in 2004 against Zimbabwe and played international till 2016. In his cricket career, he scored 1,702 with no century made him placed in the eighth position on this list.

9. Ravi Ratnayake

The former captain of Sri Lanka ODIs Ravi Ratnayake is a former all-rounder with left-hand batting and right-hand medium-fast bowling. He played 22 Test matches and 78 ODIs from 1982 till 1990 and took 141 international wickets. He scored 1,631 runs in his whole international cricket career without a century and took the ninth position on this list.

10. Lasith Malinga

During his time as a cricketer, Lasith Malinga took four wickets in four consecutive balls twice. Malinga is considered one of the best fast-bowlers of white-ball cricket. Mahindra has five hat-tricks in the history of international cricket. He scored 978 runs without a century during his career, which places him tenth on the list.
