Sri Lankan cricket has a rich history. They're among those rarest teams who have achieved milestones in a very short period. However Sri Lanka is known for producing quality spinners but they have produced some top quality batsmen also. Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardene and Saath Jayasuriya are prime examples. Many Sri Lankan batsman have created lots of history in the batting department.

1. Kumar Sangakkara 

Kumar Sangakkara is a dashing stroke player and also is a consistent and an elegant wicketkeeper.  Sangakkara has carried Sri Lanka cricket for almost 15 years. He is the greatest batsmen in Sri Lanka cricket history. He has played 134 test matches and scored 12000+ runs with 38 centuries. He holds the record of most test centuries by Sri Lankan batsman.

2. Mahela Jayawardene

Mahela is an elegant batsman who used to win matches on his own. This former Sri Lankan captain has achieved various milestones in both battings and captaincy. He is the greatest Sri Lankan skipper. Mahela gets to play 149 test matches where he scored 11000+ runs with the help of 34 test centuries.

3. Aravinda De Silva 

He's is a former Sri Lankan cricketer and a captain. De Silva is famous among cricket fans for his elegant batting. He is one of the finest Right-handed batsmen in cricket history. He played a vital role in Sri Lanka winning the 1996 World Cup. In 93 test matches, de Silva scored 6000+ runs and smashed 20 test centuries.

4. Dilshan 

Dilshan is famous for his scoop shot. Dilshan was a dynamic batsmen who has  the ability to hit the ball in any direction. Dilshan was the rarest batsmen who dominated in all three formats. Dilshan got an opportunity to play 87 test matches for his Nation and he scored 5000+ runs and went to three figures for 16 times.

5. M Atapattu

Atapattu was star batsmen of Sri Lanka during 1990-2005. His fearless batting and consistency dominated opposition teams. He has played 90 test matches for his national team and scored 5500+ runs. Atapattu gets to score centuries for 16 times in the red ball format.

6. Thilan Thusara Samaraweera 

Born on 22 September 1976, samaraweera is a former Sri Lankan cricketer, who has played Tests and ODIs for Sri Lanka cricket team. He was a regular part of the Sri Lanka cricket team during his cricket career. He has played 81 test matches for Sri Lanka and scored 5400+ runs including 14 test centuries.

7. Sanath Jayasuriya 

Jayasuriya is a left left-handed dynamic and explosive batsmen. He was famous for his hard-hitting abilities. He was among those players who used to play with a high strike rate during the 90s. Jayasuriya was a top quality opening batsmen and he gets to play 110 test matches. He scored 6900+ runs and smashed 14 test centuries.

8. Dimuth Karunaratne

Karunaratne is a Current Sri Lanka red ball captain. He has been one of the consistent players for Sri Lanka in the test cricket and that's why the Sri Lanka board gave him the leadership role. He has played 72 test matches so far and has scored 5000+ runs. He has 12 centuries in his name.

9. Dinesh Chandimal

Chandimal is the former red ball cricket captain of the Sri Lanka cricket team. Still, he's a part of Sri Lanka in all three formats. Although his inconsistency always raises questions on his selection. Chandimal has played a total of 62 test matches for Sri Lanka with a score of 4000+ runs. He has crossed the three-figure mark 11 times.

10. Hashan Prasantha Tillakaratne 

He was born on 14 July 1967. Tilakaratne is a former Sri Lankan cricketer and a former Test skipper of Sri Lanka cricket. He was a vital player of the 1996 Cricket World Cup-winning team for Sri Lanka. He has played 83 test matches, scoring a total of 4545 runs. He reached three figures 11 times.
