Sri Lanka has always been an excellent T20 team and has performed extremely well in T20 world cups as well. They also won the 2014 T20 World Cup and have produced a plethora of great T20 batters who have entertained and enthralled one and all. The following article mentions some of the Sri Lankan batters who have scored the most fifties in the shortest format of the game.

1. Tillakaratne Dilshan

Tillakaratne Dilshan, the right-handed top-order batter and a right-arm off break bowler from Kalutara, is the first to feature on our list. Dilshan is Sri Lanka’s highest run scorer in T20 internationals, with 1889 runs to his name at an average of 28.19. He scored 14 fifties during his T20 career from 2006 to 2016, which also included a hundred.

2. Kusal Perera

Kusal Perera is an explosive and hard-hitting left-handed top-order batter for Sri Lanka in T20 cricket. Kusal has featured in 60 T20 internationals for Sri Lanka and has scored 1539 runs at an average of 26.53. He has 12 fifties to his name in 59 innings.

3. Kusal Mendis

Kusal Mendis is a right-handed wicketkeeper batter for Sri Lanka from Moratuwa. Mendis has been a part of the Sri Lankan T20 team since 2016 and has played 48 matches so far, scoring 1041 runs at an average of 22.63. He has scored ten fifties in his T20 career so far.

4. Mahela Jayawardene

Mahela Jayawardene, an ex-Sri Lanka captain and a right-handed batter from Colombo, is the next to appear on our list. Mahela played his first T20 international in 2006 against England at Southampton and played in T20Is until 2014. He scored 1493 runs in 55 matches at an average of 31.76 with ten fifties to his name.

5. Pathum Nissanka

Pathum Nissanka is the right-handed top-order batter for Sri Lanka, coming from Galle, who made his T20 international debut in 2021 against the West Indies. Since then, he has been a part of the team and is one of Sri Lanka’s best T20I batters. He has scored 948 runs in 35 matches at an average of 28.72 with eight fifties to his name already.

6. Kumar Sangakkara

Kumar Sangakkara, the former Sri Lankan captain and one of the best left-handed wicketkeeper batters of all time, is up next. Sangakkara played his first T20 international in 2006 against England at Southampton. Until 2014, he played 56 T20 internationals for Sri Lanka and scored 1382 runs at an average of 31.40. He scored eight half centuries in his T20I career.

7. Dinesh Chandimal

Dinesh Chandimal, the right-handed wicketkeeper batter from Balapitiya, is at number seven on our list. In 2010, Chandimal was first seen playing for Sri Lanka in T20 international cricket against New Zealand at Providence. Until 2022, he has played in 68 T20Is and scored 1062 runs at an average of 19.66 with six fifties to his name.

8. Angelo Mathews

Angelo Mathews, the right-handed batter and a right-arm medium bowler from Colombo, is the next to feature on our list. Matthews made his T20 international debut in 2009 against Australia at Nottingham. Until 2021, he played in 78 matches, scored 1148 runs, and took 38 wickets. He has five half centuries to his name in T20I cricket.

9. Sanath Jayasuriya

The next player to feature on our list is Sanath Jayasuriya, who was a left-handed opening batter from Matara and used to bowl slow left-arm orthodox. Jayasuriya made his T20 international debut in 2006 against England at Southampton. In 31 matches, he scored 629 runs at an average of 23.29 with four half centuries to his name. In 2011, he played his last match for Sri Lanka in T20Is against England at Bristol.

10. Dasun Shanaka

Dasun Shanaka is a right-handed middle-order batter and a right-arm medium bowler from Negombo. Shanaka first appeared for Sri Lanka in a T20 international match in 2015 against Pakistan at Colombo. Since then, he has played in 81 T20Is and scored 887 runs at an average of 20.35 with four fifties to his name.
