Due to the country's ongoing economic and political crisis, Sri Lanka's ability to host the Asia Cup 2022 has been in doubt for months. However, the cricket governing body of Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), has confirmed that the country is prepared to host the competition beginning on August 27. The T20 tournament's hosting was in doubt due to the country's ongoing economic and political crisis. SriLanka has played 14 Asian Cups to date and won five of them. After India, Srilanka is the second most successful team in the Asia Cup.

1. Sanath Teran Jayasuriya

Sanath Jayasuriya is a left-hand allrounder. He played for Sri Lanka from 1989 to 2011 and played in the Asia Cup 50 overs format till 2008. Jayasuriya played 25 games and scored 1220 runs in 24 innings with an average of 53.04 and a strike rate of 102.52 with six hundred and three fifties.

2. Kumar Chokshanada Sangakkara

Sangakkara is a left-hand wicketkeeper-batsman and a former captain who played for Sri Lanka till 2015. He played 24 games in the Asia Cup from 2004 to 2014 and scored 1075 runs with an average of 48.86 and a strike rate of 84.51 with four hundred and eight fifties.

3. Arjuna Ranatunga

Arjuna Ranatunga is a left-hand batsman and captain of the world cup winning Sri Lankan team. He has scored 741 runs in 19 games in the Asia Cup 50 overs format. His tenure was from 1984 to 1997. Arjuna has an average of 57.00 and a strike rate of 82.79 with one hundred and six fifties.

4. Denagamage Proboth Mahela De Silva Jayawardene

Mahela Jayawardene is a right-hand batsman. His career started in 1997, and he played his first game in the Asia Cup 50 overs format in 2000 and played his last game in 2014. Mahela scored 674 runs in 28 games playing 26 innings with an average of 29.30 and a strike rate of 87.64 with seven fifties.

5. Pinnaduwage Aravinda De Silva

Aravinda de Silva is a right hand batting allrounder. He has scored 645 runs in the Asia Cup 50 overs format from 1984 to 2000. Silva played 24 games with an average of 32.25 and a strike rate of 83.44, including four fifties.

6. Marvan Samson Atapattu 

Marvan Samson Atapattu is a former right hand batsman. He played in the Asia Cup from 1997 to 2004 and scored 642 runs in 13 games playing 12 innings with an average of 64.20 and a strike rate of 71.09 with one hundred and six fifties.

7. Tillakaratne Mudiyanselage Dilshan

Tillakaratne Dilshan is a right-hand wicketkeeper-batsman and an allrounder whose career lasted from 1999 to 2016. He played 20 games in the Asia Cup from 2000 to 2012 and scored 368 runs in 18 innings. His strike rate was 90.19 and an average of 21.64 with two fifties.

8. Chamara Kantha Kapugedera 

Chamara Kantha is Sri Lankan right-hand middle-order batsman and an occasional wicketkeeper who played till 2017 for his team. He scored 365 runs in 12 games and played from 2008 to 2012. His batting average was 40.55 and a strike rate of 82.39 with four fifties.

9. Hettige Don Rumesh Lahiru Thirimane

Lahiru Thirimane is a left-hand top-order batsman who made his international debut in 2010 and is currently playing. Thirimane played eight games and scored 363 runs from 2012 to 2014 with an average of 45.37 and a strike rate of 76.10 with two hundred.

10. Angelo Davis Mathews

Angelo Mathews is a right-hand allrounder. He started playing for the Sri Lankan team in 2008 and is playing presently. He has played 11 games with an average of 82.75 from 2010 to 2018. Mathews scored 331 runs with a strike rate of 82.33 in the three fifties.
