The West Indies have a great history of producing some of the most dynamic and entertaining players. From producing some of the fasTest and most fierce bowlers to producing batters like Vivian Richards, Brian Lara, etc., they have had it all. In this article, we will look at some of the West Indies batters who have scored the most centuries against a specific team in Test cricket.

1. Garry Sobers

The first player to register his name on our list is Garry Sobers, also known as Sir Garry Sobers. Garry was a left-handed batter and a left-arm fast, medium, and slow left-arm orthodox bowler from Barbados. From 1954 to 1974, he appeared in 93 Tests for the West Indies, scoring 26 hundreds, ten of which came against England, the most by him against any team.

2. Richie Richardson

Next on the list is Richie Richardson, a former right-handed batter from Antigua. Richie made his Test debut in 1983 and appeared in 86 Test matches for the West Indies, scoring 5949 runs. He played 29 Tests against Australia and scored 2175 runs at an average of 49.43, including nine hundreds, his most against any team.

3. Brian Lara

Brian Charles Lara, one of cricket’s most talented left-handed batters and a West Indian legend, is next to appear on our list. Lara played 31 Test matches in all for the West Indies and the ICC XI against Australia and scored 2856 runs at an average of 51. He scored nine centuries against Australia, the most of any player against any team.

4. George Headley

George Headley was a right-handed batter from Colon, Panama, who first played for the West Indies in 1930 against England at Bridgetown. Until 1954, he played in 22 Tests and scored 2190 runs at an average of 60.83. He played 16 Test matches against England and scored 1852 runs in 29 innings at an average of 71.23. He struck eight centuries against England in Test matches, the most against any team.

5. Garry Sobers

Next, we have Garry Sobers again on our list, and this time he features for his record against India in Test matches. Garry played 18 Test matches against India and scored 1920 runs in 30 innings at an average of 83.47, with eight centuries to his name and a highest score of 198.

6. Vivian Richards

Sir Vivian Richards, a former right-handed batter for the West Indies from St. John's, is next to appear on our list. Richards began his Test career in 1974 against India in Bengaluru. Until 1991, he played in 121 matches and scored 8540 runs at an average of 50.23. He played 28 Tests against India and scored 1927 runs, with eight centuries to his name.

7. Vivian Richards

Next on our list is Sir Vivian Richards again, and this time he is in for his record against England. From 1976 to 1991, he played 36 Test matches against England and scored 2869 runs in 50 innings at an average of 62.36. He scored eight centuries against them, with a highest score of 291.

8. Everton Weekes

At number eight, we have Everton Weekes, a former right-handed batter from St. Michael, Barbados. Weekes played Test cricket in 1948 and 1958, playing in 48 matches and scoring 4455 runs. He played 10 Test matches against India and scored 1495 runs in 15 innings at an average of 106.78. He struck seven centuries against them, with the highest score being 207.

9. Shivnarine Chanderpaul

Shivnarine Chanderpaul, the left-handed batter from Demerara, Guyana, is next to register his name on our list. Chanderpaul played 164 Test matches for the West Indies and scored 11,867 runs at an average of 51.37 with 30 tonnes and 66 fifties to his name. Out of 30 centuries, seven came against India, the most for him against any team.

10. Clive Lloyd

Clive Lloyd, a former West Indies skipper and a left-handed batter from Queenstown, Georgetown, is the next to appear on our list. From 1966 to 1983, he played 28 Test matches against India and scored 2344 runs in 44 innings at an average of 58.60. He scored seven centuries against them, with a highest score of 242 not out.
