1. Brian Lara (125 Matches)

Brian Lara is a left-handed batter from Trinidad who represented the West Indies in ODIs until 2007. He captained the West Indies team in ODIs from 1994 to 2007 in 125 matches. The West Indies team won 59 and lost 59 games under his captaincy, for a win percentage of 50.

2. Viv Richards (105 Matches)

Sir Viv Richards, a stylish, right-handed batter and a former West Indies captain, is next on the list. He was as influential with his captaincy as he was with his bat. Sir Viv Richards captained the ODI team in 105 matches, winning 67 and losing 36, with two games being called off. With a win percentage of 65.04, he remains one of the most successful ODI captains in the West Indies.

3. Richie Richardson (87 Matches)

Richie Richardson is a former right-handed batter and West Indies captain from Antigua. Richardson followed Sir Viv Richards as the West Indies ODI captain in 1991. He captained the ODI team in 87 games from 1991 to 1996 and the team won 46, lost 36, and tied three games under his captaincy.

4. Jason Holder (86 Matches)

Jason Holder, one of the West Indies’ best all-rounders at present, is next to feature on the list. A multi-utility player like Holder provides the team with much-needed balance and thus is an essential part of the ODI team. Holder captained the ODI team from 2015 to 2019 in 86 matches, winning 24, losing 54, and tying two, with six matches being called off.

5. Clive Lloyd (84 Matches)

Clive Lloyd, the two-time World Cup-winning captain of the West Indies, is next on the list. Clive captained the ODI team from 1975 to 1985 in 84 matches, winning 64, losing 18, and tying one. By the time Clive retired, he had a win percentage of 77.71 as the captain of the ODI team, the highest for any West Indian captain.

6. Chris Gayle (53 Matches)

Next on the list is Chris Gayle, a left-handed opening batter from Jamaica who loved to play his shots and look for runs. Gayle has been regarded as one of the West Indies’ top ODI batters. He was also the captain of the West Indies ODI team from 2007 to 2010 in 53 matches. The team won 17 and lost 30 games under his captaincy, with six games resulting in no result.

7. Darren Sammy (51 Matches)

The team won 22 and lost 20 games, with a win percentage of more than 50. In 1997, Walsh gave up his captaincy, and Carl Hooper followed him as the ODI captain.

10. Dwayne Bravo (37 Matches)

Dwayne Bravo, the ‘Champion,’ an all-rounder born in Trinidad, is the next to feature on the list. Bravo played in ODIs from 2004 to 2014 in 164 matches. He also got to captain the West Indies ODI team from 2007 to 2014 in 37 matches. West Indies won 17, lost 18, and tied two games while he was captain.
