T20 cricket is known for big runs on the board and CPL is no different. It’s a huge pack of entertainment. Over the years we have seen mountains of totals getting scored in the Caribbean Premier League, and today we are making a list of such totals. From Trinbago to Patriots, Tallawahs to Patriots, each team has that arsenal in them that ensures they score big. This event always asks more and these teams never fail to deliver. Here are the top 10 highest totals in CPL
10. Trinbago Knight Riders: 218/5, 2018
After some blistering show from Kieron Pollard (65 off 23) in the first innings, St Lucia stars got to a massive total of 212. Sunil Narine got a six but then got out cheaply along with Chris Lynn, it was looking tough for TKR but then came in Brendon McCullum and Darren Bravo’s knock. Their 68 off 42 and 94 off 36 ensured TKR a brilliant victory.
9. Trinbago Knight Riders: 223/6, 2018
Gigantic 223 runs scored in the first innings, but let me tell you this straight away, this was in a losing cause. Chris Lynn got to a flyer with 46 off 27 along with Munro’s 61, McCaullum’s 56, and Bravo’s quickfire 29. A team effort in the first inning got TKR to 223 runs but all in vain as Jamaican Tallawahs chased it with Andre Russell being the captain of the ship for them. His 50 from 22 balls helped them get 2 points.
8. ST. Lucia Kings: 224/2, 2021
An innings to remember for Faf du Plessis. He scored massive 120 runs in just 60 deliveries with 13 fours and 5 sixes. But don’t let this overshadow another huge knock from Roston Chase. He’s 64 from 31 took St Lucia Kings to a mammoth total of 224.
7. Jamaica Tallawahs: 225/6, 2018
Coming back to the match between TKR and Jamaica Tallawahs, after posting 223 in the first innings, the Knights were looking positive to win the match. Even in the second innings they got wickets upfront and were in a comfortable position to win it. But then came another Knight, well from Kolkata at least. Jamaican captain Andre Russell came in at 7 when the total was just 41. He turned the odds, he turned the whole game on his own, with 6 fours and 13 gigantic sixes, he scored 121 runs at a 246.93 Strike rate i. e. 49 balls. Jamaica Tallawahs won the match out of nowhere, that too with 3 balls to spare.
6. Jamaica Tallawahs: 226/5, 2019
Another one in the list where these many runs couldn’t ensure a win for the team. First, it was TKR who lost again Tallawahs, and this time it’s the Jamaica Tallawahs who collided against Knight Riders. Chasing 268, Jamaica Tallawahs started their innings comfortably with Gayle and Phillip’s 39 and 62 respectively. But then once the wickets started falling it never stopped. But the team hopes did not die as the number 11 batsman, Ramaal Lewis scored 37 from 15 to take them till 226/5.
5. ST. Lucia Stars: 226/6, 2018
One of the most dynamic knocks throughout 20 overs one can see, and that too after losing David Warner for a duck, Andre Fletcher smashed 80 off 52 deliveries, and with him, it was captain Kieron Pollard who then scored 104 off 54 balls with 8 sixes and took stars to 226.
4. Jamaica Tallawahs: 241/4, 2019
Another supreme run set on the board only to lose it in the second innings, Gayle once again proved why he is the universe boss. He scored 116 from 62 balls with 10 maximums. His muscular innings went in vain as the runs got chased, a team effort from St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots batsmen got 2 points and set another high total record.
3. ST. Kitts And Nevis Patriots: 242/6, 2019
Same match another innings, chasing a target of 242 runs, Patriots never looked out of shape and were comfortable until the end. Devon Thomas made 71 off 40, Evin Lewis smashed 53 off 18 deliveries with 6 sixes and then Evans and Allen too contributed at more than 200 strike rate. But it wasn’t going to be easy. An anti-climax took place when Braithwaite and Jason Mohammed got out for 0. In the end, when the game was slipping away, it was Shrimarh Brooks quickfire 15 balls 27 runs which took Patriots home with 2 points.
2. Jamaica Tallawahs: 255/5, 2021
Another Tallawahs innings in the record, three scores in the ’40s and one in ’30s, It was looking good, in fact, it was just another 180’s kind of an innings for them until Russell arrived at the crease. This innings made headlines, made records as he smashed the quickest Fifty ever in CPL. Just in 14 balls at a strike rate of 357.14. This was one of the comeback knocks for Andre as he was going through a rough patch.
1. Trinbago Knight Riders : 267/2
Just when you think records can’t be broken, here’s another one. Knights trashed Tallawahs bowlers, thanks to all four batters including Simmons 86(42), Narine 20(18), Munro 96(50), and Pollard 45(17). This was one of the most prolific displays of batting as here if was four batsmen who helped built the innings, this gets always compared to Gayle’s 175 against PWI in IPL where the total was 8 runs more (275). This was a night where nothing went wrong for Knights, and this stands at number one in the highest total in an innings list.
