Test Cricket is considered the most challenging format of the game. Batters face many challenges like playing in difficult conditions, facing swings, and uneven bounce. Test cricket is known for testing the players in such uncomfortable and unsuitable conditions. If a batsman score runs in this complicated game format, then that player can perform in any conditions. Scoring a century in test cricket is a good achievement; scoring a double century is a great one, but achieving a triple century is rare in Test cricket. Somehow, some of the players have managed to do so. Here is the list of ten cricketers who have scored a triple century in test cricket.

1. Donald Bradman

Sir Donald Bradman is considered one of the best cricketers, and he had an unimaginable average of 99.94 in test cricket. Test cricket scored twenty-nine centuries, twelve double centuries, and two triple centuries. His triple hundreds came against England and scored on the same ground; Headingly, Leeds. His first triple century was a brilliant 334, which was also the highest individual test score, that time. The second one came was a terrific 304, which made him the first player to have two or more triple centuries in the game.

2. Brian Lara

Brian Lara was one of the greatest batsmen of the modern era, joining Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting, and Jacques Kallis. He holds the record for the highest individual score in test cricket. Lara scored an unbelievable 400* against England in 2004. He is also one of those players who have scored triple centuries on more than one occasion. His previous best was a 375 against England in 1994. He scored his triple hundreds at the Antigua Recreation Ground, St.John’s.

3. Sanath Jayasuriya

The Sri Lankan legend has a terrific record in cricket. Some players have played more than a hundred tests and scored nearly seven thousand runs in this format. Jayasuriya scored fourteen centuries, three double centuries, and a triple century in test cricket. He achieved this feat against India in 1997 when he scored a blistering 340 which helped Sri Lanka to a total of 952, which is the highest total by a team in an innings in test cricket to date.

4. Matthew Hayden

One of the most aggressive openers of the game, Matthew Hayden, was feared more for his intent and presence than his skillset. He is one of the few players who have reached the top rank of batters in every format. He scored a tremendous knock of 380 against Zimbabwe at the WACA Ground, Perth, adding himself to the list of players to score a triple century in 2003.

5. Virender Sehwag

Only two Indian batsmen have scored triple centuries in test cricket, and Sehwag was the first Indian to achieve this feat, not once but twice. Sehwag scored a brilliant 309 against Pakistan at the Multan Cricket Stadium, which earned him the title ‘Multan ka Sultan.’ His second triple century came in Chennai against South Africa, where he scored 319, which is also his personal best in the game. He is also the first player to record a triple century in test cricket and a double century in ODIs.

6. Chris Gayle

Christopher Henry Gayle, known for his gigantic sixes and powerful hitting, is one of the most prolific batsmen for the past two decades. Chris Gayle has also scored two triple centuries in test cricket. The first one came against South Africa, where he smashed 317 at the Antigua Recreation Ground in 2005. The second was a marvelous 333 against Sri Lanka at the Galle International Stadium in 2010.

7. Michael Clarke

The 2015 world cup winning captain has a significant record in test cricket. He has scored above eight and a half thousand runs, with an average nearing forty-nine. Clarke has scored a triple century in test cricket against India at the Sydney cricket ground. He scored a scintillating 329 in the second innings of the test match and helped Australia to clinch the victory in 2012.

8. Brendon McCullum

The only New Zealander on the list achieved this feat in his last test match series. McCullum is known for his aggressive intent and swashbuckling willow. He scored a terrific 302 against India at the Basin Reserve, Wellington, in 2014. He smashed thirty-two boundaries and four sixes in that innings.

9. Mahela Jayawardene

Mahela Jayawardene was considered one of the best players for Sri Lanka. Mahela has scored a little less than twelve thousand runs in test cricket with an average of almost fifty. Test cricket scored thirty-four centuries, seven double centuries, and a triple century. He achieved this feat against South Africa in 2006 when he scored a tremendous 374 at the Sinhalese Sports Club.

10. David Warner

David Warner is one of the most prolific openers of modern time and one of the best left-handers to play the game. Known for his running celebration after reaching a milestone, he has shown immense class and talent throughout his career. Warner is the most recent on this list. He scored a terrific 335 on 30th November 2019 against Pakistan, which helped Australia win the series.
