Watching the batters score runs in a cricket match excites everybody unless it is the opposition team. The strike rate in ODIs was not as important in the old days as today. ODI Cricket has surpassed nearly all the old records, such as highest team total, highest individual score, most runs conceded, most sixes hit, and many more. An Indian batter holds the record for the highest ODI score. This list shows the top ten batters with the highest individual score in ODI cricket.

 

1. Rohit Sharma (264)

Rohit Sharma’s 264 against Sri Lanka is the highest score ever in the One Day International history. He was the last man out in India’s first innings total of 404. Rohit scored 264 runs off 173 deliveries with the help of 33 fours and nine sixes with a strike rate of 152. Eden Gardens in Kolkata hosted this ODI on 13th November 2014.

2. Martin Guptill (237*)

Guptill played an unbelievable knock of an unbeaten 237 to help New Zealand crush the West Indies in the 2015 Cricket World Cup quarter-final. Guptill’s innings of 237 came off 163 deliveries, including 24 fours and 11 sixes, with a strike rate of 145. Sky Stadium in Wellington hosted this ODI match on 21st March 2015.

3. Virender Sehwag (219)

The big-hitting opening batter led the Indian side when he made 219 runs against the West Indies. Sehwag’s innings of 219 came off 149 balls, including 25 fours and seven sixes, with a strike rate of 146. The Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore hosted this ODI match on 8th December 2011.

4. Chris Gayle (215)

Chris Gayle broke the record for the highest score in World Cup history in the 2015 World Cup that got broke by Martin Guptill later in the same tournament. The Universe Boss scored 215 runs off 147 balls against Zimbabwe with the help of 10 fours and 16 sixes with a strike rate of 146. The Manuka Oval in Canberra hosted this World Cup match on 24th February 2015.

5. Fakhar Zaman (210*)

Fakhar Zaman became the first Pakistani batter to score a double hundred in ODI cricket. The left-hander struck an unbeaten 210 off 156 deliveries against Zimbabwe, including 24 fours and five sixes with a strike rate of 134. The Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo played the host of this ODI on 20th July 2018.

6. Rohit Sharma (209)

Rohit Sharma has hit three double centuries in his ODI career. His first double century came against Australia, in which he scored 209 runs off 158 deliveries with the help of 12 fours and 16 hits out of the park with a strike rate of 132. M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru hosted this ODI match on 2nd November 2013.

7. Rohit Sharma (208*)

Rohit’s third double hundred came against the same opponents he scored 264, Sri Lanka. The Indian opening batter scored an unbeaten 208 off 153 balls with the help of 13 fours and 12 sixes with a strike rate of 135. IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali played the hosts of this ODI match on 13th December 2017.

8. Sachin Tendulkar (200*)

The Master Blaster became the first cricketer to score a double century in  ODI cricket. Sachin played a knock of an unbeaten 200 runs in 147 deliveries against South Africa, including 25 fours and three sixes with a strike rate of 136. Captain Roop Singh Stadium in Gwalior hosted this ODI match on 24th February 2010.

9. Charles Coventry (194*)

Charles Coventry scored an unbeaten 194 runs against Bangladesh in 156 deliveries and broke the record for the highest score for Zimbabwe in ODI cricket. His innings consisted of 16 fours and seven sixes with a strike rate of 124. The Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo in Zimbabwe hosted this ODI match on 16th August 2009.

10. Saeed Anwar (194)

Saeed Anwar led the charts with his 194 against India until Sachin Tendulkar broke it with his unbeaten 200 in 2010. Anwar’s 194 came off 146 balls, including 22 fours and five sixes, with a strike rate of 132. MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk in Chennai hosted this ODI match on 21st May 1997.
