Taking wickets in the required time is a special ability and a main duty of the ODI bowlers. Taking wickets is the major thing to take care of in the innings since that’s a crucial part of the fielding team’s innings. These top 10 bowlers have not only taken a wicket but they did it in the first ball of their career. Not many players are lucky enough to have a wicket in their very first ball of the ODI cricket. These players are exceptional in that record, and many players in this list are not full-time bowlers but, they are all-rounders.

1. Geoff Arnold

The man who topped this list is the player who was the first one to take a wicket in his first ball. GEOFF ARNOLD (left in the picture) is an England bowler and he was the first one to do this in the ICC ODI match between England and Australia in the year 1972. This match was played in the Manchester ground in the year 1972 and was one of the early days of cricket.

2. Shahid Mahboob

The player at the 2nd spot is the former Pakistani cricketer SHAHID MAHBOOB for his amazing debut performance in the year 1982 in an ICC ODI match between India and Pakistan. This was his debut match and he took a wicket in the very first ball of his career, and this was played in the Lahore ground in the year 1982/83.

3. Sadagoppan Ramesh

The player at the 3rd spot is the former Indian all-rounder SADAGOPPAN RAMESH for his debut performance in the year 1999. Though he didn’t play consistently for many years, he has secured many records like this in his cricket career. This was in an ICC ODI innings between WI and India in the year 1999/2000.

4. M Van Jaarsveld

The player in the 4th position is former South African player and bowler M VAN JAARSVELD. He was one of the early 2000s players and this was his debut match in the year 2002. This happened in an ICC ODI match between South Africa and Bangladesh in 2002. Since this age was known for its amazing bowling squad in cricket, he didn’t have many chances to prove himself.

5. Kaushal Lokuarachchi

The player in the 5th spot is the former Sri Lankan bowler KAUSHAL LOKUARACHCHI for his performance in his debut cricket in the year 2002. This was his debut match in his ODI career which was played between Sri Lanka and Kenya in the 2002/2003 series, and he took a wicket in his very first ball.

6. Bhuvneshwar Kumar

The player in the 6th spot is the Swing King from the Indian bowling squad BHUVNESHWAR KUMAR. Not many talented bowlers have a great start, but he had an amazing first match which was an ODI match between India and Pakistan in the year 2012. This was played in the Chennai ground in the 2012/13 series against Pak and he conceded a wicket at the start of his career.

7. Andrew Mathieson

The player in the 7th position is the former New Zealand bowler ANDREW MATHIESON for his wicket in his debut performance in the year 2015. This was an ODI match between NZ and England in the year 2015, and though he took a wicket he didn’t give a compelling performance in that match and didn’t have a chance to play constantly for his team.

8. Keemo Paul

The player at the 8th spot is the young bowler from team West Indies KEEMO PAUL and his amazing performance in the year 2017. This was his debut match in the 2017/18 series between WI and Afghanistan and he was one of the players to have this record of the wicket in the first ball of his career. This was played in the Harare ground in the 1027/18 series.

9. Lizaad Williams

The player in the 9th spot is the South African bowler and cricketer LIZAAD WILLIAMS, and his performance in the debut ODI match. This was the ODI match between SA and Ireland in the year 2021. He is currently one of the emerging talented bowlers of ODI cricket and his performance was recorded on the Dublin ground.

10. Maheesh Theekshana

The player in the 10th position is the Sri Lankan pace bowler MAHEESH THEEKSHANA and his performance in the ODI match in the year 2021. He also performed well in the 2022 IPL series in the CSK team which was played in India. This was during the 2021 ODI match between Sri Lanka and South Africa.
