One of the most popular cricket formats worldwide is the One Day International. The spectators also find this to be the most enjoyable. Players used to exclusively hit fours against bowlers, but after the introduction of T20 cricket, batsmen turned aggressive and started hitting sixes frequently in One Day Internationals as well. Let us look at the cricketers who hit maximum sixes in a single match.

1. England Vs. Afghanistan - Eoin Morgan – 17 Sixes

In their World Cup match against Afghanistan, England's skipper Eoin Morgan broke the previous record for the most sixes in an ODI inning by launching as many as 17 sixes. Morgan hit 148 from 71 balls in spectacular fashion, smashing 17 sixes and four boundaries. Morgan frequently dispatched the length balls in between these locations with a few straight sixes, focusing on the arc between long-on and long-off. Rashid, who had never previously had more than two sixes in an inning, was the target of his severities.

2. India Vs. Australia - Rohit Sharma – 16 Sixes

At the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore on November 2, 2013, Rohit Sharma scored his first ODI double-century against Australia by smashing 16 sixes in a single inning. Rohit Sharma struck 209 against Australia in Bangalore, breaking the record for most sixes in an ODI inning with 16. India won the game by a score of 57 runs and the seven-match series by a score of 3-2 thanks to Rohit, who was named Man of the Match. The exceptional innings also featured 12 boundaries.

3. South Africa Vs. West Indies - AB de Villers – 16 Sixes

This morning, AB de Villiers broke the previous record for the fastest century in one-day cricket by scoring an astounding 149 runs off just 44 balls. The Proteas set an exceptionally challenging goal of 440 from their 50 overs thanks to the South African batsman, who burned the West Indies to achieve his century off just 31 deliveries. De Villiers followed up tonnes from Hashim Amla (153 not out) and Rilee Roussouw with an exhibition of hitting, slamming 16 sixes and nine fours throughout his quick-fire innings (128).

4. West Indies Vs. Zimbabwe - Chris Gayle – 16 Sixes

According to the Duckworth-Lewis method, Chris Gayle scored the first double-century in Cricket World Cup history as the West Indies defeated Zimbabwe by 73 runs in Canberra. To break the previous record for the highest partnership in one-day international history, Gayle scored 215 runs off 147 balls and added 372 runs with Marlon Samuels. He threw down 16 sixes.

5. Australia Vs. Bangladesh - Shane Watson – 15 Sixes

One of the most significant all-rounders to have played for Australia at the highest level, Shane Watson was a star with both the bat and the ball during his historic one-and-a-half-decade international career. Moreover, "Watto" played a crucial role in Australia's World Cup victories in 2007 and 2015. The Queensland cricketer quickly completed his century and single-handedly guided Australia to victory with nine wickets and 144 balls remaining. With an exceptional strike rate of 192.70 and an unbroken 185 runs from 96 deliveries that included 15 fours and as many sixes, he was rightfully named Player of the Match for his superb all-around efforts.

6. Afghanistan Vs. Australia - Hazratullah Zazai – 16 Sixes

In a Twenty20 International, Afghanistan, which last year moved up to play in the 12th spot, added another accomplishment to its resume. Afghanistan surpassed Australia's 263 for three against Sri Lanka from a little more than two years ago when they batted first against Ireland in the second T20I in Dehradun. Hazratullah Zazai was the main wrecker, scoring 16 sixes and 11 fours in his 62-ball 162-run innings. The highest individual score by Zazai was 162, only behind Aaron Finch's 172 against Zimbabwe in Harare last year.

7. England Vs. Australia - Aaron Finch – 14 Sixes

The England team won the toss and elected to field first in a match that had a record number of runs scored. Moreover, Aaron Finch's pillaging of the opposition was the main focus of the Australian innings. Finch batted an incredible century at a strike rate of nearly 250 while taking the England bowling attack by the scruff of the neck. Thanks to his knock, he scored a stunning 128 runs in fours and sixes alone, which included a whopping 11 fours and 14 sixes. Although Australia racked up a total of 248 runs on the scoreboard, Shane Watson finished as the team's second-highest run scorer with a 16-ball 37.

8. South Africa Vs. New Zealand - Richard Levi – 13 Sixes

He smashed 13 sixes, the most in a Twenty20 inning, and took just 45 balls to reach the century mark, which made New Zealand's 173 appear to be at least 50 below par. Levi's 117 off 51 balls, a first-ever Twenty20 international century for South Africa, was so severe that the run rate after the opening over hardly ever fell below 10. With four overs left, they easily reached the mark and tied the series 1-1 with the decisive game in Auckland.

9. West Indies Vs. India - Evin Lewis – 12 Sixes

Evin Lewis scored 100 off 49 against India in his second-to-last T20I. Evin Lewis scored 67 runs off 121 in the entire ODI series against India. In this T20I match against India, Evin Lewis returned and scored 125 runs off 62 balls, including 12 consecutive sixes. Lewis led the world champion West Indies team through a chase of 191, which they completed with nine balls remaining, despite only 54 off 49 coming from the other end. The highest score in a T20I chase came from his innings.

10. USA Vs. South Africa - Jaskaran Malhotra – 16 Sixes

The 31-year-old batted in the 10th over when his team was 29 for 3, finishing undefeated on 173, the second-highest individual total in USA history, and becoming the first American to score a century after being granted ODI status. He also became the second American to reach a century. The previous closest player was Aaron Jones, who scored 95 against the UAE in 2019. In addition, he surpassed AB de Villiers' 66-ball 162 for South Africa against the West Indies at the 2015 World Cup to set the record for the highest score by a No. 5 in ODI cricket. Malhotra totaled 16 sixes, just one shy of the World Cup 2019 record established by Eoin Morgan against Afghanistan.
