The Caribbean Premier League, known as CPL, is one of the famous T20 leagues worldwide. It’s a home for West Indies T20 format. CPL was founded in 2013 by cricket West Indies, and now it’s officially named Hero CPL.
10. Shoaib Malik
Shoaib Malik is one of the most experienced T20 players going through the ranks, and he is one of the leading players in the CPL. Malik made his CPL debut in 2013 for Barbados Tridents and then moved to Guyana Amazon Warriors, where the best of Malik got seen in the big stage of CPL. He played 56 CPL matches, scored 1707 runs with an average of just 40, and has 12 half-centuries. Malik also captained the Guyana-based franchise, and he led the team from the front with his sublime batting performances.
9. Darren Bravo
Darren Bravo's batting style looks like his cousin and idol Brian Lara. He looks fascinating to the eyes when he is in good form. His drives are a delight and beautiful sight. He played his entire cricket in the CPL with his brother Dwayne Bravo. Darren Bravo is a regular player for Trinbago Knight Riders, and he is one of the leading run-scorers for the franchise. He played a total of 72 innings and accumulated 1726 runs, including eleven fifties. Darren is an anchor kind of player, but when he gets at his zone, he is no mug with big-hitting.
8. Colin Munro
Munro is one of the consistent batsmen in the history of CPL. He made his CPL debut for Trinbago Knight Riders in 2016 and took the CPL by storm. Munro is the leading run-scorer for TKR and was the leading run-scorer in the tournament in the year 2018. His break-out season was in 2018, where he scored 567 runs which is the most by any individual batter in the CPL. Munro also holds the record of scoring a first hundred by a foreign batter in the CPL. Munro scored 1753 runs from 54 games with a tremendous strike rate of 137+ and the highest score of 100*.
7. Evin Lewis
Left-handed six-hitting batters, after Chris Gayle, hit 129 sixes in the CPL and stands next to the universal boss. Lewis is a powerful and attacking batsman in the T20 format. He is so hard to bowl to as he bats with hitting intention right from the word go. Lewis scored 1787 runs from 69 matches with a strike rate close to 140. He also has fourteen fifties to his name, making him one of the consistent performers in the CPL. He played many breath-taking knocks for St. Kitts and Patriots, and he's the leading run-scorer for the franchise.
6. Chadwick Walton
Chadwick Walton has been a decent performer in the CPL. He is one of the established Wicket Keeper-batsman and has always been a hard-working cricketer. Walton made his CPL debut in 2013 for Jamaica Tallawahs and then moved to Guyana Amazon Warriors, where Walton performed exceptionally well. His runs mostly came as an opener, and in the year 2017, he scored 458 runs from 12 innings – which is most by a Windies player in the CPL. He has an overall record of 1803 runs from 81 matches. With an average of 24, a slightly below par to his standards.
5. Kieron Pollard
A giant, A six Hitting Machine, The Finisher, and a leader – You give him as many names, and he fits perfectly for it. One of the main reasons behind the Trinbago Knight Riders winning the trophy in 2021, Pollard is a T20 veteran and the only batsman in the entire CPL where he hit more sixes (126) than fours (125). Kieron Pollard played for three franchises in the CPL- Barbados Tridents, St. Lucia Zouks, and Trinbago Knight Riders. He has been a stand-out performer for all the three clubs, and Pollard scored a CPL hundred- His first T20 hundred. Pollard scored over 1900 runs with a mammoth strike rate of 152, including a CPL hundred and ten Fifties. Considering the batting position where he usually bats, these are phenomenal stats.
4. Johnson Charles
Charles is one of the most experienced wicket-keeper batsmen in the CPL. Barbados' Tridents drafted him to play in 2019, and this was one of the critical reasons where Barbados won the trophy and was termed as champions. His role was vital as he was the leading run-scorer for the franchise in the championship year. Charles made his CPL debut for his home side St. Lucia and in 2013, before moving to Jamaica Tallawahs. Charles scored 2056 runs, including thirteen fifties and a decent strike rate close to 130.
3. Andre Fletcher
The Spice man- That's what fans in West Indies call him. He is one of those rare players who played his entire CPL for only one St. Lucia. He is one of the best-known players around the world. Andre played too much of T20 cricket, and the experience added value to his name. He is a talented wicket-keeper batter with a solid technique, power, and the No-Look shot inventor. Fletcher played 78 games and scored 2081 runs with an average of close to 30, and his tally included eleven fifties. Fletcher is the kind of player who maximizes the batting power-play overs.
2. Chris Gayle
The Universe boss, the greatest T20 batsman ever. A legend of the game, and Gayle is once in a generation player. The bat swing, the ability to turn the game single-handedly and to destroy the oppositions mercilessly are the things of Chris Gayle. Look at the T20 records, and you better look for the 2nd name in every list because the first one would always be Chris Gayle- in runs, centuries, half-centuries, most sixes, etc. Gayle is the second leading run-scorer of CPL, next to Lendl Simmons. Gayle missed many CPL games because of injuries, fitness, and personal problems. If not for those, the top 1 would be a cakewalk for him. Gayle scored 2354 runs which included four hundreds-The most by any batsmen in the CPL. His average of 39.44 and strike rate close to 140 speaks about his consistency.
1. Lendl Simmons
Simmons is the no.1 leading run-scorer in CPL. He is arguably the consistent batsman in the CPL and a T20 veteran for West Indies. Simmons holds the record for most fifties scored by a batsman in the CPL (19). He's been around the ranks where he showed his consistent run in IPL and the international circuit. No one can forget his semi-final knock against India in the T20 world cup 2016. Simmons scored 2436 runs from 82 matches and has a decent average of 33.83. Simmons is a rare brand of players where he can hit sixes to get the momentum and anchor the innings when needed. He got a chance to open the batting for Trinbago Knight Riders and, since then, he's been scoring heavily.
