1. Indore (2016)

This was the final match of the New Zealand tour of India test series and India won both the other matches. Their dominance continued, so did Ashwin’s. He took six wickets in the first innings. 2. Nagpur (2015) 

Ashwin had already taken five wickets in the first innings in this match against South Africa. The pitch was extremely difficult to bat on, such that India’s 215 in the first innings proved to be monumental. The final innings had South Africa chasing a target of 310 and they succumbed to Ashwin, who took seven wickets in this innings and sealed the deal for India. The pitch came under a lot of criticism after the match.

3. North Sound (2016)

Ashwin took the seven-wicket haul in the third and final innings of the match. Overall, he had a splendid all-round performance after he scored a century in the first innings. After West Indies were asked to follow-on, Ashwin’s seven wickets assured India won the match by an innings.

4. Chennai (2013)

This was the first match of the 2013 Border Gavaskar Trophy. India had endured a 0-4 whitewash, the previous time they played against Australia. Now in this match, Australia chose to bat first and they were putting up good runs with Ashwin taking wickets at one end. Ashwin took all the first 6 wickets of the innings and it looked at that point that he had a shot of becoming the third player to take all 10 wickets in an innings. However, it was not meant to be and he finished with 7 wickets in the innings.

5. Visakhapatnam (2019)

India was hosting South Africa for a three-match series and this was the first match. India had scored 502 but South Africa were having a strong reply innings to it. Thanks to Ashwin’s seven wickets, India managed to secure a 71-run lead which later on led to India’s victory

6. Hyderabad (2012) 

This innings is the first innings of the New Zealand match discussed earlier. India had posted a huge 400+ total and Ashwin took six wickets to ensure they could enforce follow-on, on New Zealand. Later on, India achieved an innings victory.

7. Bengaluru (2017)

This was the second match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2017. India had lost the first match of the four-match series, in Pune. As Australia had won the previous edition of the trophy, an Australian victory this match would’ve ensured the trophy stayed with Australia. India had conceded a lead in the first innings and could now only set a target of 188 against the Aussies. From here on however, Ashwin almost single handedly broke Australia’s chase and India won the match

8. Galle (2015) 

India toured Sri Lanka for a three-match Test series. India managed to restrict Sri Lanka to a paltry total of 183 in the first innings due to Ashwin’s masterclass. He managed to take six wickets. Though India managed to attain a 192-run lead, they went on to lose the match due to some terrific performances by Dinesh Chandimal and Rangana Herath.

Ashwin ended up with figures of 6-46 in this innings.

9. Delhi (2011)

This was the first test in the two-match series between India and West Indies. India had conceded a 95-run lead in the first innings and were in the danger of having to chase a huge total if West Indies were to go big in the third innings. However, Ashwin managed to take a six-wicket haul in his debut test and restricted West Indies to just 180. India went on to win the match by 5 wickets. This also became his maiden fifer in test cricket.

10. Hyderabad (2012)

This was the first test in the two-match series between India and New Zealand. New Zealand were following on after Ashwin had wrecked them with a six-wicket haul in the first innings. In this second innings, they again had to face his masterclass and lost six-wickets to him again. India won the match by an innings and 115 runs.
