At times, some batsmen tend to score high repeatedly, on a particular ground. It could usually be because the conditions there, suit the style of the batsman. We will now have a look at the most runs scored by a batsman in a single Indian ground.

10. Gundappa Viswanath

Gundappa Viswanath was a batsman, who played for the Indian team around the same period as Sunil Gavaskar. He was considered as the player who had the most importance, after Gavaskar. Viswanath was known to score runs in challenging situations. Gundappa Viswanath played ten tests in the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, and scored 785 runs on the ground.

9. Mohammad Azharuddin

Mohammad Azharuddin scored five centuries in Eden Gardens. It was a place, where he scored regularly, with his highest score there being 182. Mohammad Azharuddin played seven tests in the Eden Gardens, Kolkata, and scored 860 runs on the ground.

Sachin Tendulkar has various records in terms of batting, in test cricket. He has scored massive amount of runs, on multiple grounds, and this was one such place. Sachin Tendulkar scored 165, right in his first innings in Chennai, against England. Overall, he scored five centuries here, with one coming in a successful 387-run chase against England in 2008. Another memorable century in Chennai was his 136 against Pakistan in 1999, in which he was battling alone, and India collapsed immediately after his dismissal. 3. Sunil Gavaskar

Sunil Gavaskar had three scores of 150+ in Chennai. The highest score in his test career was 236 not out, and it was in Chennai. He achieved it in the final test in the West Indies tour of India. West Indies were leading 3-0 at the start of the game, and India was left to fight for pride. Gavaskar’s knock helped India draw the match. Sunil Gavaskar played 12 tests in the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, and scored 1018 runs on the ground.

1. VVS Laxman

VVS Laxman played one of the best knocks ever, in test cricket history, in Kolkata. India was trailing 0-1 in a Test series against Australia. Australia batted first, put up a considerable lead, and enforced the follow-on, on India. While following on, Laxman and Rahul Dravid, stitched together a partnership of 376 runs for the fifth wicket. Laxman ended up with a score of 281. India managed to set a huge target, and won the match. Laxman has four more centuries in Kolkata. VVS Laxman played ten tests in the Eden Gardens, Kolkata, and scored 1217 runs on the ground.
