Cricket is a game of gentlemen. Batters try their best to put a good score on the board, or if chasing, they try their best to chase down the score; It all depends on the bowler, and how he bowls the next over. If the bowler fails to understand the position clearly or if there is a lot of dew on the ground, it can cause problems in play. Batsmen just need a chance to hit the ball out of the ground, and if the bowler is not bowling well, then it is an advantage for the batters. Below is the list of the ten most expensive overs in cricket history:

1. Harshal Patel (37 Runs)

The match played between Bangalore and Chennai in IPL 2021 still haunts Harshal Patel. Patel bowled well in his last overs, conceding only 14 runs, and taking three wickets. In the last over of his bowling spell, Ravindra Jadeja showed no mercy to him and smashed all the balls of Patel's last over out of the ground, conceding 37 runs in the over. Virat handed him the bowling, trusting him to take more wickets, but Patel conceded 37 runs in his last over. It is one of the costliest overs in cricket history.

2. Prasanth Parameswaran (37 Runs)

The IPL match played between Kerala and Bangalore in 2011 was one of the most exciting matches in cricket history. Prashant Parameswaran of the Kerala team was bowling and, Chris Gayle was at the crease. He dismissed the very first ball out of the ground and continued to do so, resulting in 37 runs in an over. Parameswaran was surprised to see how well Gayle was hitting the balls out of the ground. It is one of the costliest overs in cricket history.

3. Stuart Broad (36 Runs)

The T20 match between India and England in 2007 still shocks Stuart Broad. It was the first T20 World Cup, and the pressure was on England as India was batting well. Yuvraj Singh came to bat after Robin Uthappa was dismissed. Yuvraj and Broad had a brief altercation on the field, which angered Yuvraj, and in the very next over, as soon as Broad came to bowl his next over, Yuvraj was at the crease and smashed all six balls bowled by Broad out of the field, causing a serious blow to England. It remains the most sensational over in cricket history.

4. Daan Van Bunge (36 Runs)

The ODI match between the South Africa and the Netherlands in 2007 is still remember as one of the sensational matches. When South African batsman Herschelle Gibbs was at the crease, Dan van Bunge was the bowler. Bunge tried to take a wicket for his team but instead gave away 36 runs in his over. Gibbs became the first batsman to hit six sixes in an ODI.

5. Akila Dananjaya (36 Runs)

The T20 match between West Indies and Sri Lanka in 2021 is still a good and, if not a very good memory for Akila Dhananjay. He was bowling well and took three consecutive wickets in his last over, but his happiness was overshadowed by West Indies batsman Kieron Pollard. As West Indies lost two wickets in a row, Pollard took matters into his own hands and hit Dhananjaya for six sixes in the over. Thanks to Pollard, West Indies won the match in just 13.1 overs.

6. Stuart Broad (35 Runs)

The costliest over in Test history was bowled by Stuart Broad when India and England were playing their fifth Test match in 2022. Broad was bowling well in his previous overs, but when Bumrah came to bat, he hit his very first ball for a four. After that, Bumrah did not stop and scored 35 runs in one over, hitting two consecutive fours. Broad was still in shock from what Yuvraj had done in his over in 2007, and Bumrah made matters worse by hitting all his deliveries out of the ground.

7. Daniel Sams (35 Runs)

The IPL match between Kolkata and Mumbai in 2022 was a match to remember for Daniel Sams. As soon as the team captain Rohit Sharma handed the ball to one of his trusted bowlers, Sams was planning to take a quick wicket but, his magic did not work and, Pat Cummins dismissed all the balls out of the ground without wasting a single ball. Sams stood like a statue. This over of Sams was recorded as one of the costliest overs in cricket history.

8. Shivam Dube (34 Runs)

One over of the T20 match between India and New Zealand in 2020 remains the costliest over in cricket history. Kiwi batsmen Tim Seifert and Ross Taylor conceded 34 runs in one over by right-arm bowler Shivam Dubey, the most expensive over ever bowled by an Indian across formats. Seifert scored 17 runs, and Taylor scored 16 runs to shake Dubey's world. Together, they were sensational on the field.

9. Nasum Ahmed (34 Runs)

One over of the T20 match between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe in 2022 remains the costliest over. While Ahmed had taken a wicket in his previous over, in his next over, Zimbabwe's sensational batsman Ryan Burl smashed 34 runs in his over. Ahmed was in complete confusion and was taken aback by delivery after delivery. He could not believe his luck, and no matter how he bowled, Burl did not take the bait and continued to hammer the ball out of the ground.

10. Andile Phehlukwayo (33 Runs)

The T20 match between South Africa and England in 2022 was a memorable day for young Andile Phehlukwayo. While bowling, Phehlukwayo did not see what was in store for him. While bowling, he planned to take the wicket, but two England batsmen, Jonny Bairstow, and Moeen Ali, bowled all the balls out of the ground to make 33 runs. Johnny Bairstow scored 13 runs, and Moeen Ali scored 18 runs.
