The Caribbean Premier League, known as CPL, is one of the famous T20 leagues worldwide. It is played in West Indies in a T20 format. CPL was founded in 2013 by Cricket West Indies- formerly known as WICB.  It is currently sponsored by Hero MotoCorp and consequently, officially named Hero CPL. Let us see the top ten wicket-takers of CPL history.

10. Kieron Pollard

Kieron Pollard is one of the starring roles in the CPL. He is well versed with T20 format games. Pollard made his CPL debut in 2013 for Barbados Tridents and then moved to St. Lucia Zouks and Trinbago Knight Riders. Pollard has a tally of 55 wickets with an economy of 7.67, including three 4 wicket hauls.

9. Andre Russell

Russell is one of the consistent all-rounders in the history of CPL. He made his CPL debut for Jamaica Tallawahs in 2013 and took the CPL by storm. Russell is the only player to score a century and pick a hat-trick in a T20 game. He is a genius wicket-taker and he has a bowling average of 17.6, which is incredible. Overall, Russell has a tally of 58 wickets from 66 matches.

8. Kevon Cooper

Kevon Cooper last played his CPL game in 2018, but he is still on the list of top 10 wicket-takers. He made his CPL debut in 2013 for Trinbago, played 56 CPL games, and picked 59 wickets with an economy under eight. He bowls in critical phases of the game and is known to break partnerships.

7. Kesrick Williams

Williams is one of the finest bowlers in the CPL. With a lot of skills and variety which is an added advantage to his bowling, he has a bowling average strike rate of 15.6 which is considered one of the best in CPL. He made his debut in 2016 for Jamaica Tallawahs but the best in him was displayed when he played for St. Lucia Zouks. He has 66 wickets in just 53 games.

6. Sohail Tanvir

Tanvir is a veteran T20 bowler with an unnatural action. He bowls in power play and death over and he is known as a wicket-taking bowler. Tanvir is also a  lower-order batsman. He played 59 CPL games and picked up 68 wickets with an economy under seven.

5. Sheldon Cottrell

Cottrell made his CPL debut in 2013 and has emerged as one of the best young bowlers. His performances in CPL have earned him a slot in international cricket for West Indies. Cottrell’s strength lies in swinging the ball and taking early wickets in the power play. He has played 57 CPL games and has 74 wickets to his name with a strike rate of just 16.3.

4. Sunil Narine

Narine is a foxy and mystery spinner with a lot of tricks under his hat. He is a wicket-taker and at the same time, he can control the flow of the game. Narine is one of the problematic bowlers to face for the batsmen. He made his CPL debut for Guyana and then moved to Trinbago Knight Riders. Narine has 78 wickets from 76 games with an economy of just 5.45.

3. Krishmar Santokie

Santokie is another breed of bowlers whose role is to deceive the batters by swing inside the power play-over. He is a successful T20 bowler and his CPL stats are the proof. He had played his last CPL game in 2019, yet he stands on number 3 in the list of top 10 bowlers. He has played 58 games and has a tally of 85 wickets, including two 4 wicket hauls.

2. Rayad Emrit

Rayad Emrit is a medium pace all-rounder who made his CPL debut in 2013 and he holds the record for most matches played by a player in CPL (85). Emrit played for many clubs in his CPL career and now he is the captain for St.Kitts and Nevis Patriots. He picked up 96 wickets with an average of 22.75.

1. Dwayne Bravo

Dwayne Bravo has a lot of experience in the T20 format and there is no doubt that he is the top wicket-taker in the CPL. He is the icon of the Caribbean  Premier  League. Bravo holds the record for playing with only one franchise-based club –Trinidad, since his debut. Overall, Bravo has 106 wickets in just 79 games and it includes four 4 wicket hauls and one 5 wicket haul.
