The Bangladesh Cricket Team, nicknamed ‘The Tigers’ is run by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). It is a full member of the ICC and plays all the three formats of the game. It played its first one day international match against Pakistan on 31st March, 1986. Since then, it has been playing ODIs regularly and also appeared in six ICC World Cup tournaments. In this article, we will have a look at the top ten highest scores by the Bangladesh Cricket Team in ODIs.

1. 322/4 Vs Scotland

The Tigers registered their 10th-highest ODI score at the ICC World Cup 2015 when they played Scotland at Nelson. In reply to the European side’s total of 318, the Bangladeshis chased down this total in 48.1 overs. They scored 322 runs at a loss of 4 wickets, thus winning the match by 6 wickets. Despite losing an early wicket of one of the openers, the other opener Tamim Iqbal scored 95 runs. Mahmudullah and Mushfiqur Rahim also scored 62 and 60 runs respectively. These contributions helped their team chase down Scotland’s big total quite easily.

2. 322/3 Vs Zimbabwe

In the third ODI of Zimbabwe’s tour of Bangladesh in 2020, held at Sylhet, the hosts went off to a flying start when they came out to bat in the first innings. Both the openers were in sublime form. While Tamim Iqbal scored 128 runs, the other opener Litton Das scored 176 runs as they contributed 292 runs for the opening partnership. Bangladesh scored a mammoth 322 runs, thanks to these two contributions. They went on to win the match and Litton was awarded the Player of the Match award.

3. 322/3 Vs West Indies

In the 2019 ICC World Cup match between the West Indies and Bangladesh, the former posted a total of 321 runs on the board batting first. Coming out to chase, Bangladesh looked comfortable throughout the innings. Opener Tamim Iqbal contributed 48 runs while Shakib and Litton contributed 124 and 94 runs respectively. Bangladesh dominated the entire second innings as they went on to beat the West Indies by 7 wickets, chasing down the latter’s target in as less as 41.3 overs. Shakib-al-Hasan was awarded the Man of the Match award for his all-round performance.

4. 324/5 Vs Srilanka

The 2 Asian nations played each other for a 3-match ODI series in 2017. In the first match at Dambulla, coming out to bat first, Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal played brilliantly and contributed 127 runs to the team’s total. His innings included 15 boundaries and an over-boundary as well. Sabbir Rahman and Shakib also played equally well. They scored 54 and 72 runs respectively as the visitors piled up a total of 324 runs for the loss of 5 wickets at the end of their 50 overs. The match ended with Bangladesh emerging victorious and Tamim securing the Man of the Match award for his match-winning century.

5. 326/3 Vs Pakistan

In the 2014 Asia Cup match between Pakistan and Bangladesh held at Mirpur, the hosts elected to bat first after winning the toss. All the Bangladesh players contributed equally well to pile up a huge total of 326 runs on the board. Imrul Kayes, Mominul and Mushfiqur scored half-centuries (59, 51 and 51 not out respectively) while Shakib finished the innings with a fine 16-ball-44. However, the showstopper of the Bangladeshi innings was none other than their opener Anamul Haque, who scored a brilliant century, hitting 6 fours and 4 sixes. Despite Bangladesh’s excellent batting display, they however lost the match by 3 wickets.

6. 329/6 Vs Pakistan

The two Asian sides clashed against each other for an ODI series in Bangladesh in 2015, following the ICC World Cup. In the first ODI of the series at Mirpur, Bangladesh after batting first accumulated a huge total of 329 runs for the loss of 6 wickets, thanks to centuries from star batter Tamim Iqbal (132 off 135 balls) and wicket-keeper Mushfiqur Rahim (106 off 77 runs). Other contributions here and there also helped the host and they won the match by a comprehensive margin of 79 runs. Rahim received the Man of the Match award for his stunning batting display.

7. 330/6 Vs South Africa

One of the major upsets in cricket took place in the 2019 ICC World Cup, when Bangladesh played against the Proteas at the Oval. Coming out to bat first, Bangladesh opener Soumya Sarkar scored 42 runs off 30 balls. Shakib and Mushfiqur added 75 and 78 runs respectively to the team’s total, while Mahmudullah finished the innings, remaining unbeaten on 46 runs off just 33 balls, as the Tigers ended their innings with 330 runs on the board. South Africa, though they tried everything to chase down this total, still fell short by 21 runs at the end. Shakib-al-Hasan was awarded the Man of the Match award for his all-round performance.

8. 333/8 Vs Australia

The third-highest run in ODIs for Bangladesh came in the 2019 ICC World Cup when Bangladesh played against the Men in Yellow at Nottingham. In reply to Australis’s total of 381 runs, Bangladesh started their innings well enough. Their opener Tamim Iqbal scored 62 runs while Mahmudullah scored 69 runs. Mushfiqur Rahim also tried hard to chase down the total, scoring a century while Shakib contributed 41 runs to the team’s total. However, all these efforts went in vain as Australia emerged victorious by beating the Tigers by a margin of 48 runs.

9. 338/8 Vs Ireland

Bangladesh registered their second-highest and highest ODI score ever when Ireland visited them for a 3-match ODI series in 2023. In the first ODI at Sylhet, batting first, Bangladesh batters Shakib-al-Hasan and Towhid Hridoy scored 93 and 92 runs respectively to put the host in a commanding position. Mushfiqur Rahim also scored 44 odd runs off just 26 balls, ensuring Bangladesh ends the innings scoring as many as 338 runs. The hosts eventually won the match by 183 runs taking a 1-0 lead in the series. Hridoy was adjudged the Man of the Match for his scintillating innings.

10. 349/6 Vs Ireland

In the 2nd ODI of the same series, the Tigers registered their highest-ever total in ODI cricket. Batting first, the hosts went on to score a mammoth 349 runs for the loss of 6 wickets, thanks to Mushfiqur’s 100 off 60 balls, Litton Das’ 70 runs and Najmul Shanto’s innings of 73 runs. Towhid Hridoy also scored a fine knock of 49 runs off just 34 balls, putting the hosts in the pole position of winning. However, the weather had some other plans. Heavy rain ensured that Ireland did not get an opportunity to bat and hence the match was called off eventually. However, the total Bangladesh made in the first innings remains their highest ever ODI score till date.
