Ruturaj Gaikwad is a rising talent in the sport. 1. Maharashtra Born

Ruturaj Gaikwad was born on January 31st, 1997, in Pune. His father was a DRDO officer, and his teacher was a teacher in a municipality school. He attended St. Joseph School for his elementary education. In Pimple Nilakh, Pune, he attended Lakashmibai Nadgude School.

2. Domestic Debut

He made his first-class debut in the 2016-17 season when he played for Maharashtra, he made his List-A debut in the same season of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, and he has played for many domestic structures like India A, India B, India Blue, and Under-23. He played for India B in the Deodhar Trophy in the 2018-19 season and was named in the India U-23 for Emerging Asia Cup in 2018.

3. Domestic Career

He has played 28 matches in his First-class career; he has scored 1941 runs at an average of 42.19 also includes six centuries and nine fifties. In the List-A career, he has scored 4034 runs in 71 innings; he has played at an average of 61.12 with, consists of 15 centuries and 16 fifties; he also has a double century to his name.

4. Vijay Hazare 2022

Vijay Hazare's performance by him was one of the best individual performances by any player, as he scored 660 runs in the five matches, he played for Maharasthra at an average of 220, which includes three centuries and one double century, because of his performance Maharasthra reached their maiden final but couldn’t win despite Ruturaj’s century.

5. Records 

He has some records under his name; there are some which are hard to break. One of the most famous is when he hit seven sixes in an over and scored 43 runs in an over, this happened during the second Quarterfinals of the 2022 Vijay Hazare trophy, and he became the first batter to hit seven sixes in an over. Gaikwad also has the record of having most centuries by any player in Vijay Hazare as he has scored 12 centuries till now.

6. IPL Auction

Ruturaj Gaikwad was picked by Chennai Super Kings in his base price in the 2019 auction, but he didn’t play any match that season and was retained for the next two editions at the same price. Before the mega auction in 20222, he was retained by CSK for six crores, and he was their main opener with Faf Du Plessis.

7. IPL Career

Ruturaj Gaikwad didn’t play any matches in the 2019 edition, but he got to play six games in the 2020 edition; when CSK was almost knocked out of the IPL, he impressed everyone with his performance which allowed him to play the full edition of the IPL in 2021, where CSK won the IPL with his good performance as he scored 635 runs at an average of 45.35. In the 2023 IPL, he won another IPL with CSK. He won the orange cup and the emerging player of the Year in 2021.

8. International Career

He made his international debut in 2021, when he made his T20i debut against Sri Lanka, and made his ODI debut against South Africa, he just played one ODI match, scored 19 runs. He has played nine T20 matches till now and scored 135 runs with one half-century to his name.

9. Under-19 

Gaikwad successfully represented the Indian Under-19 squad at the 2016 Under-19 Asia Cup. He attracted the attention of selectors with a century against Sri Lanka during the competition, which led to his selection to the Maharashtra Ranji Trophy squad.
