Shubman Gill, the next massive thing in cricket, successor to Virat Kohli, the pioneer of batting in the next era of Indian cricket. Youngest batter to hit a double century in ODI cricket. 1. Punjab Born

He was born on September 8th in Fazilka, Punjab. His father was a farmer, but he decided to move to Mohali, closer to the I.S Bindra Stadium, so he could get better training as he knew he had the talent. He started playing cricket when he was just three.

2. Idols

Every cricketer growing up has seen someone play before, and that’s why he got them to play the sport; that’s the same case for Shubman Gill, as he grew up watching Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli, who is also from a Punjabi family. His bromance with Virat Kohli can be seen in the field when they play together. His favorite is Sachin Tendulkar.

Shubman Gill always keeps a red handkerchief whenever he is playing a match. 4. Domestic Debut

He made his List A debut for Punjab in the 2016–17 Vijay Hazare Trophy 2017 against the Vidarbha team. He made his first-class debut for Punjab in the Ranji Trophy 2017. In the same year, in his second first-class match, he scored his maiden century against the Bengal team.

5. Domestic Career

He has played 44 first-class matches where he has scored 3469 runs at an average of 51.01 which includes ten centuries and sixteen fifties. In List-A's career, he has played a total of 79 matches till now, and he has scored 3575 runs at an average of 52.57 which includes ten centuries and sixteen fifties.

6. Under-19 World Cup

2018 Under-19 player of the tournament, and highest run scorer for his team in the world cup, he scored 372 runs in five innings. He was the deputy to Captain Prithvi Shaw. He made three fifties and a century in the tournament.

7. Youth ODI

Shubman Gill has played 15 innings in youth ODI; he has scored four centuries and six fifties. He has scored 1149 runs with an average of 104.45, he is the only batter to have an average above 100 in youth ODI, and this record is still with him and nearly impossible to break.

8. International Career

He debuted for India in 2019 against New Zealand, made his test debut against Australia in the infamous series, and made his T20i debut against Sri Lanka. He is the second fastest player to score 1000 ODI runs when he completed it in just 19 innings. He has played 47 international matches where he has scored 2440 runs with seven centuries and nine fifties, including a double century. He is the fifth Indian to score a century in every format of the game.

9. IPL Auction

Shubman Gill was in an IPL auction in 2018 after his world cup performance, Kolkata Knight Riders got this man for 1.8 crore, which was nine times his base price of 20 lakhs. Before the mega auction, he was released by KKR and picked by the newly formed Gujarat Titans, where they got him for eight crores, and he became their third player after Hardik Pandya and Rashid Khan.

10. IPL 

Shubman Gill made his IPL debut in 2018 but had no specific batting position, but he played 13 matches where he scored 203 runs. In the next two editions, his position was still not clear, but he managed to score 296 and 440 runs in 14 matches each and with three fifties in each season. In IPL 2021, his batting position was fixed as he started opening for KKR; he scored 478 runs in the edition in which KKR reached the IPL final.
