Cricket has three departments batting, bowling, and fielding. The standard of fielding has gone to the top level in the last few decades. Fielder's save many runs for their team and also grab some outstanding catches to get out any batsmen. Fielding in test cricket is relatively static, and you must have seen many fielders standing at slip to grab the catches coming from the edge of the batsman.

1. Mahela Jayawardene 

Jayawardene is former Sri Lankan batsmen and Skipper who led Sri Lanka cricket to many achievements. He is one of the greatest batsmen in cricket history. Jayawardene has a record of most catches for Sri Lanka in Test cricket. He took 205 catches in 149 matches. He used to be one of the sharpest slip fielders.

2. Hashan Tillakaratne

Hashan Tilakaratne is one of the finest batsmen in Sri Lanka cricket history. He got massive recognition for his role in Sri Lanka's World  Cup-winning team. He has played a total of 83 test matches and grabbed 122 catches. Later he became a member of the Sri Lanka selection committee.

3. Sanath Jayasuriya

Jayasuriya is a former Sri Lanka opening batsmen recognized as explosive batsman. Jayasuriya made his test debut in 1991. He played 110 matches for Sri Lanka and took 78 catches. He used to be one of the finest fielders in his era. He announced retirement in 2007.

4. T Dilshan 

Dilshan is one of the finest white ball batsmen of the Sri Lanka cricket team. He is famous for his terrific chasing in ODIs. Dilshan, a three-dimensional player who used to do his best in all three departments batting, bowling and fielding. He played a total of 87 test matches and took 89 catches.

5. M Muralitharan 

Murali s a former Sri Lanka cricketer who is popularly known for his magician spin deliveries. He is the greatest Sri Lankan ever to play this game. Most test wickets in red-ball format belong to none other than the great Muralitharan. He has played 132 matches and taken 70 catches.

6. Angelo Mathews

Mathews is a professional Sri Lankan cricketer who once used to be a regular part of Sri Lankan cricket in all three formats. He has been one of the most consistent batsmen for Sri Lanka in the middle order. Mathews has played 90 test matches and has grabbed 68 catches so far.

7. Kushal Mendis 

Mendis is a professional cricket player from Sri Lanka who made his test debut in 2015.He has played 43 test matches for Sri Lanka so far. He has taken 66 catches in test cricket so far. However Mendis got dropped from the national team due to regular failures. Still he has a good amount of cricket left in his career.

8. MS Atapattu 

Atapattu is former Sri Lankan batsmen and captain who used to be a backbone for his team during his cricket career. Atapattu played 90 test matches for Sri Lanka and took 58 catches. Atapattu is currently working as a coach for many teams and sharing his experience with youngsters.

9. RS Mahanama

Deshabandu Roshan Siriwardene Mahanama is a former Sri Lanka player. He was a key member of Sri Lanka's World Cup-Winning team of 1996. He played 52 test matches for Sri Lanka and took 56 catches in his career. Mahanama later went to become a member of ICC.

10. Dimuth Karunaratne 

Karunaratne is the current captain of the Sri Lanka test team. He has been the most consistent player for Sri Lanka in red-ball at this moment. Karunaratne's consistency wins the trust of management, and they give the role of captaincy to him. He has played 72 test matches so far with taking 54 catches.
