The charity has always been where people donate their own money to help the poor. The term “poor” gets used to financially weak people. But this pandemic made us realize that being poor or rich will not guarantee a weak or strong immunity power. This pandemic might have severe consequences for anyone at any time. The pandemic made us more aware of our health system and economic status. Many people came forward to donate to the poor and needy who weren’t as lucky as some of us.

1. Glenn McGrath

Glenn McGrath, great Australian fast bowler of all time in the late 1900s to 2000s Sir Glenn McGrath, has led to the creation of the McGrath Foundation in 2005. When his wife was diagnosed with breast cancer, he came up with the idea of making a foundation that could be helpful for breast cancer patients. After his wife passed away in 2008, McGrath devoted himself totally to the foundation. This foundation is a leading Breast cancer foundation that runs in Australia.

2. The Pathan Brothers

The famous duo, The Pathan Brothers, formed a Mehmood Khan Pathan Charitable Trust. This charity got founded found way back in 2014. Since they faced tough times while growing up, they started contributing to the poor. The charity runs in the name of their father, Mehmood Khan Pathan. Recently they donated 4,000 masks and food to Vadodara, which was affected by this deadly virus.

3. Sachin Tendulkar 

The greatest batsman of all time has donated to many charities in the years. He has been providing charity services these years to underprivileged people under the NGO Apnalaya. His mother-in-law donated four decades of her life to this foundation founded way back in 2011; They sponsored the treatment for 300 kids who have cancer, for which the total amount was around 1.35 crores. In 2014 he contributed about ten lakhs to spread the awareness of cardiac diseases among children to the Bai Jerbai Wadia hospital.

4. Imran khan 

The best all-rounder of Pakistan, Imran Khan, is the present Prime Minister. He runs many charities; one of them is the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Trust, which has provided no-cost medical facilities in Pakistan since 1994. The foundation of Imran Khan Cancer Appeal in 1994 was the only cause to make this possible as Imran Khan himself was affected due to cancer. He established it in the memory of his mother and raised around $25 Million from the world to develop the foundation.

5. Steve Waugh

The best captain batsman from Australia, after retirement, he devoted himself to charity and in helping children suffering from rare diseases after retirement. He started back after he retired from international cricket in 2004. He founded the Steve Waugh Foundation, which was created in 2009 to help poor children with rare diseases. In 2010, he visited India and raised funds to rehabilitate leprosy children with the leprosy of Udayan in Kolkata. He is inspired by how Mother Teresa served the poor. He changed his life views after he met with Mother Teresa.

6. Ian Botham

We must know that Ian Botham was a great cricketer, but he is also known for his charity donor. He has contributed to long-distance charity walks since 1985 with a 900-mile trek. To date, Ian has successfully arranged 12 walks. He is also the most charitable donated cricketer with a round figure of 15 million euros. His foundation got led by Ian Botham himself and is called the Ian Botham Foundation. He also runs another organization named Beefy’s Foundation, in which he raises funds from charity golf tournaments to support cancer treatment for children and young adults.

7. Yuvraj Singh

One of the most exceptional all-rounders of all generations has his foundation named YouWeCan. Currently, Yuvraj Singh runs the foundation with his mother after being diagnosed with cancer. When he was in his red hot form, he got found with cancer. Then Yuvraj led this organization to make people aware of cancer. This YouWeCan is also a fashion brand from where he collects revenue to run this foundation with his mother. The establishment of this organization was in 2012, which ensures four important things like survivor empowerment, screening, cancer awareness, and treatment support.

8. Muttiah Muralitharan

The all-time best spin bowler with the world record of most wickets in tests and ODI’s runs a charity as Foundation of Goodness which he started doing in the early 2000s from a small village named Seenigama. He also helped people when the tsunami hit Sri Lanka, and he did his best to save and secure people from there. He also serves as an Ambassador for the ‘United Nations World Food Program,’ which fights hunger among school children. Also, he is planning to build a million-dollar complex for the war-displaced civilians in Makulam, Colombo, including a sports center, English and IT training, a school, and elders home.

9. Virat Kohli

Undoubtedly the best batsman right now and also our Indian Team Captain. He runs a charity named Smile Foundation and leads his organization, Virat Kohli Foundation. He established this organization in 2013. He aims to work for the people with various NGOs. There are charity football matches played by celebrities, including sportspersons, actors, artists, to raise funds for the charity. Kohli is also in an association with RP Sanjiv Goenka Group who supports rising players at a certain level irrespective of any game they play.

10. Shahid Afridi

Like Imran Khan, he is also an all-time great. A great cricketer of all time. Afridi started his foundation, which helps people regarding education and health. He established his own Shahid Afridi Foundation way back in 2014. This foundation now runs as a maternity hospital in Kohat and provides free medicines and treatment for poor people. The main aim is to improve the conditions of the underprivileged communities of our society in terms of Education, Healthcare Services, Access to Water, Sports Rehabilitation, and Emergency Relief Response.
