1. Indian Premier League (IPL)
India's Premier League has the highest ratings and has been listed number 1 among the world's top 10 cricket leagues. The Indian Premier League was first started in 2008 by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). IPL has changed the whole of cricket because of more commercialization, entertainment and more Cricketer brand value. It is the best cricket league in the world and ranks 6th among all sports leagues. The brand value of IPL is estimated to be approximately $ 4.16 billion.
2. Big Bash League (BBL)
The Big Bash League sponsored by KFC is an Australian professional Twenty 20 cricket league established in 2011. After the Indian Premier League, the KFC Big Bash League is the second most popular league in cricket. BBL matches take place in Australia during the summer months of December and January. The BBL is placed in the 8th position based on the most attended sports league in the world with respect to the crowd. Over the years, there have been eight urban infrastructure teams of local and international players participating in the BBL. Interestingly, this League uses bat-throwing techniques instead of traditional coin tosses to determine which team will go for bowling or batting first.
3. Caribbean Premier League (CPL)
The Caribbean Premier League is the annual T20 cricket tournament in the Caribbean Coast. It was started in the year 2013 as the CaribbeanTwenty 20 and later on was replaced by the Premier Twenty 20 competition in the Caribbean. CPL is the only cricket tournament in the Caribbean that gets good feedback from both spectators and players. CPL ranked 4th according to popularity and entertainment. The league has a total of 6 teams. Although the Caribbean Premier League was slow-growing it has now become widespreadand also has made its name in the list among the top 10 Premier League in the world today.
4. Pakistan Super League (PSL)
The Pakistan Super League, known as PSL, is managed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). In September 2015, the Pakistan Cricket Commission (PCB) officially announced the PSL. The first edition of the tournament began on February 8, 2016 with only five teams. The first season of the league was held in the United Arab Emirates because of some security reasons. The luxurious and magnificent features of the tournament have made PSL one of the ten largest Premier Leagues in the world.
5. Bangladesh Premier League (BPL)
Out of the three professional leagues in Bangladesh, Bangladesh Premier League is the most recognized league globally. In this competition, seven franchises follow a typical round-robin format. The first season started with a sophisticated opening ceremony and player auction in the year 2012. Unfortunately, the tournament was ruined by a match-fixing scandal and was resumed again in the year 2014. In the 2019 season, the Bangladesh Premier League has improved its rules and regulations by eliminating the franchise. The Bangladesh Cricket Board has acquired the entire league.
6. Vitality Blast T20 Cup
One of the most popular entertaining pool leagues, the Vitality Blast T20, was first started in 2003 by the England & Wales Cricket Board from an independent franchise. Total of 18 Teams participate in the Vitality Blast T20 Cup. The passion of the players is just breathtaking. England first introduced both T20 and ODI; however it is not as popular as Vivo IPL and KFC BBL . But it still attracts crowds and glamor to some extent . The T20 Blast League is excellent at nurturing young talent, especially in countries where people love and follow football very much.
7. Mzansi Super League
The T20 tournament in South Africa was to be held in 2017, but the global league collapsed in 2017 due to some financial crises in the global league. Later on, the T20 global league was replaced by Mzansi Super League in 2018. The first and second edition of the league was held in the year 2018 and 2019 respectively. But due to the pandemic, it was not held in the year 2020 and was postponed. The Mzansi Super League features a player draft in which the franchise takes local players before overseas player selection. This League consists of eight teams in total and two other teams were going to be added for the third edition. This tournament’s format is the same as any other major tournament held.
8.Lanka Premier League
This league was founded by Sri Lanka Cricket in 2018. They started the league on November 26, 2020 as the Lanka Premier League, which is the T20 Premier League. This league has become very popular within a short period because of huge and good attention. Due to its initial popularity, the Lanka Premier League is now one of the top 10 World Cricket Leagues.
9. Global T20 League
The Global T20 League is Canada's T20 tournament, first introduced in 2018, with six teams competing against each other. After the first tournament, the International Cricket Council sanctioned this league as one of the ten cricket leagues globally for its rapid recognition from the public. The six teams have local players, some international players, including legendary players like Yuvraj Singh and Shoaib Malik.
10. T10 League
The owner of the T10 League is Abu Dhabi's TTen Sports Management. It is a 10-day cricket format league. The UAE introduced itsfirst edition in 2017. It was pretty successful because of its short duration i.e. just 10-days format. The T10 league is loved worldwide and is quite a fascinating league. Because of its popularity the T10 League got placed among the world's 10th cricket league.
