Many matches have impacted the game of cricket, which forced many rules, and many matches which left a mark on history. Many matches did this, but we cannot talk all about it, but will talk about the matches that we think is the most important one, and the games that changed the way we see the sport today.

1. Ashes

Cricket test matches between England and Australia are known as "The Ashes." The phrase was originally used in a humorous obituary in The Sporting Times, a British newspaper, shortly after Australia's first-ever Test victory on English soil in 1882 at The Oval. According to the obituary, the English cricketer "the body will be cremated, and the ashes will be taken to Australia," after his passing. Ivo Bligh, the English captain, had sworn to "regain those ashes" before the 1882–183 series played in Australia, and the mythological ashes were instantly connected to that match. The quest to recover the Ashes was the name given to the trip by the English media.

2. M.S. Dhoni’s Six

The most infamous six in Indian cricket, when the captain scored the winning runs to win the 2011 world cup, six with Ravi Shastri's commentary, is the most iconic moment which will never be forgotten by anyone; this six gave India their second world cup after 28 long years. This world cup also meant that India was the first team to win the world cup at their home.

3. Kapil Dev 1983

Kapil Dev, the captain who gave India their first world cup, the World Cup that no one ever thought could be won by a team like India, did the unthinkable; they forced many cricketers to dream that they could succeed; they made that underdog team can win a major tournament, they made BCCI what they are today. The heroics of Kapil Dev and Co. beat strong teams like Australia and West Indies. This moment they changed everything in Indian cricket.

4. Brian Lara 400

One of this game's all-time greatest batters, Brian Lara., had the highest score made by a batter when he made 375 in 1994, but it was broken by Matthew Hayden when he scored 380; he was never going to let it go, and that is what; he did in the fourth test of the England tour of West Indies, West Indies already lost the series, the match was played in Antigua. This inning had 43 fours and four sixes which lasted for almost 13 hours; this inning by Brian Lara made sure that anything can be possible in this game until you give your best.

5. Phillip's Huges Death

One of the saddest moments in cricket, the thing no one expected can happen in cricket, and that is what happened; this game was played with so many safety precautions, but still, that happened, On November 25, 2014, at the Sydney Cricket Ground, during an innings in the domestic league match between South Australia and New South Wales; he was batting on 63 runs, and then he was hit in the neck by the ball after attempting to hook a bouncer from New South Wales bowler Sean Abbott. He collapsed to the ground and was declared dead two days later.

6. Sandpaper Gate

The incident startled the world. To make the ball swing in flight, Cameron Bancroft was captured on video in March 2018 at Newlands during the third Test between South Africa and England in Cape Town. After being implicated, vice-captain David Warner and skipper Steve Smith suffered extraordinary punishment from Cricket Australia. This incident became a part of eroded trust in the integrity of the Australian cricket team and raised questions about the overall sportsmanship in the game.

7. 1992 World Cup Semi-Final

This was South Africa's first World Cup. They spent two decades in exile due to apartheid, and they were now looking to leave their imprint. They had a chance to go to the championship in their very first competition. But fate, or should we say the weather, had other ideas. Only one run was scored by the Proteas on the final ball, and England triumphed by the revised goal of 19 runs. It must be remembered that England scored 252/6 in just 45 overs.

8. 2019 World Cup Final

The most infamous moment of this decade was the game which forced a change in the game and the rules for the umpire. England vs. New Zealand in the Lord’s, the game was tied when both the teams scored 241 runs. Still, the most controversial part throughout the game was when the ball hit Ben Stokes’s at and went for four runs giving them six runs in total, which was discussed a lot as to whether five runs could have been given, which could change the match as Ben Stokes would not be on strike. There was another controversial moment in the match as the super over-tied, but England won the game as they had more boundaries, these did not make sense, and a lot of backlashes led to the change of many rules after this match

9. IPL

The Indian Premier League, or IPL, the formation of this league has received many backlashes as this is the reason that India is not winning any ICC tournaments anymore, but many have also appreciated as this made the game more interesting; this led to more viewers; many people started watching this as people could support their team. This came after India won the 2007 T20 World Cup; the formation of this format has made this game more interesting as more matches were played, and after this, many T20 leagues were formed, and the most recent one is in the USA.

10. The World Series Cricket

The World Series Cricket (WSC) was a rebel cricket competition that was organized outside of the established cricketing authorities in the 1970s. The competition was phenomenally successful, and it led to a few changes in the way cricket was played. This led to the rise of ODI cricket, colored jerseys, and the signing of the best players at that time.
