WTC is also known as World Test Championship. It is a new tournament organized by ICC. Its motive is to regain the popularity of the test format and make it lively again. All test-playing nations participate, and the best, according to the standing pool table, face each other in finals. Matches comprise home and away matches for all teams. New Zealand is the first WTC winner; the tournament's second edition is scheduled for June 2023. India has managed to qualify for both the season. This article will discuss the 2021-2023 cycle of WTC.

1. Alex Carey

The list starts with the cricketing nation Australia. He is an all-format player. This cycle of WTC has been a memorable one for this player. He took the most number of catches and stumpings during this cycle. He has played consistently for the Aussies. He even scored some excellent knocks in middle overs for the team.

2. Joshua Da Silva 

Joshua is a player from the Caribbean side. He debuted for his national cricket team in the year 2020. Silva has played two formats of the game - the t20 and the test. He has played 22 test matches and two one-day matches. Silva has been good with the bat in the most extended format. He has even captained his national A side in Asia.

3. Tom Blundell 

The next player is the New Zealand cricket team. He had a memorable debut for his team as he directly participated in the 2019 Men’s World Cup. The team did well and ended up as the runners-up. Owing to their good performances, he was picked for the WTC squad for the finals in 2021. Then the team won its first ICC trophy in that category. Similarly, his team could not perform that well this time, but his contribution with gloves was remarkable.

4. Rishabh Pant 

Rishabh is one of the most entertaining cricketers among the list of players here. He is a great batting player apart from it. Pant is dangerous on foreign pitches. He has scored centuries against big nations on their home soil. He has even single-handedly won test matches like BGT matches. He plays aggressively against the orthodox style of test batting. 5. Kyle Verreynne 

Kyle is a South African cricketer who belongs to the Pretoria region of his nation. He is a wicketkeeper-batsman who played regularly for his team during the second edition of WTC 2021-2023. He debuted for his team during this season of WTC only. He has played 14 test matches for his nation at an average of 28. He previously appeared in the Under 19 world cup, where he was a vital member of the Under 19 squad. Later on, he debuted in the fifty-over format of the game. He is yet to debut for the shortest form of the game.

6. Ben Foaxes 

He is an English keeper. Apart from his keeping, he is known for his batting too. He is an opener and plays orthodox cricketing shots. He primarily plays in red-ball format and county championships. He is more fit for the most extended format of the game.

7. Mohammad Rizwan 

Rizwan is the Pakistani wicket-keeper in the highlights. He is also an all-format player who primarily plays in all major tournaments and bilateral series. He plays as an opener in the playing XI. His batting partner is Pakistan skipper Babar Azam. He contributed to the team’s performance, but overall Pakistan test team did not have a good season this time. In short format, he lays a proper foundation for his team’s innings. He can change gear wherever and whenever required.

8. Jos Butler 

Jos Butler is another English keeper on our list. He is a leader, too, and leads his national side in the limited-overs format. Jos is the only wicket-keeper after MS Dhoni to lift the t20 world cup for his country. He primarily plays limited over game, but he is three format player. He bats in the middle order and sometimes opens the innings as well. In this cycle of WTC, he had a mediocre time with the bat.

9. Niroshan Dickwella 

Dickwella is a wicket-keeper batsman from the Lankan side. He is a left-handed batsman, and it adds a unique value to the batting order. One of his favorite shots is Dilscoop. He is a format player and has played equivalent matches in all formats. He had a batting average of 32 in the ODI and test format and 18 in the t20 format.

10. Nurul Hasan 

Nurul Hasan is a Bangladeshi cricketer on our list. He is known for flexibility and is a new upcoming talent for the team in the future. He bats down the order. Bangladesh cricket feels that he has the potential to lead his nature in the future. So keeps on trying him as a captain in bilateral series against associate nations. For example, he led his team against Bangladesh’s tour of Zimbabwe.
