Punjab has been the land of new budding cricketers for ages. Many players represented the national team too. The home ground of the Punjab state is Mohali, Patiala, and Amritsar. The state actively participates in domestic games and tournaments in India. The state has one Ranji trophy too. The current captain of the Punjab Cricket team is Mandeep Singh. Munish Bali is the coach of the team.

1. Lala Amarnath

The first player on our list is Lala Amarnath. Lala was one of the earliest players to represent the Indian Cricket team. Hailing from Kapurthala, Punjab, he was independent India’s first captain. He led the national side from 1933-1955. He was the first player to score a hundred in red ball format for the Indian team. He was the first captain leading the team to its first test win against Pakistan. He had played 24 tests for the Indian cricket team. He averaged 24 while batting and 32 while bowling. Later in his career, he indulged himself in commentating.

2. Mohinder Amarnath

The next player on our list is Mohinder Amarnath. He is the son of the legendary player, Lala Amarnath. Mohinder is a former Indian cricketer hailing from Punjab. Mohinder is one of the members of the 1983 world cup winning team. He is a batting all-rounder. He played 69 test matches and 85 one-day matches for the Indian cricket team. He is a good player who loves to bat against pace. Later on in his career, he indulged himself in coaching and the acting profession.

3. Navjot Singh Sidhu

The third player on our list is Navjot Singh Sidhu. His primary role is as a batsman. Sidhu is a right-handed batsman used to playing in the middle order. He played around 51 tests and 136 one-day matches for the Indian team. He averaged 42 and 37 in those matches, respectively. Later on in his career, he joined commentator and television jobs. Every one of us is a fan of his commentating.

4. Bishan Singh Bedi 

The next player on our list is Bishan Singh Bedi. He is a left-arm slow orthodox bowler. His primary role was of the spinner. He is a member of the Indian spin quartet. He also captained the Indian team for a certain period. He is a Padma Shri awardee. He had played 67 test matches and 10 one-day matches. He had a bowling average of 28 and 48 in those matches, respectively. He also coached the team for a tour.

5. Yashpal Sharma

The next player on our list is Yashpal Sharma. He was a former Indian cricket player hailing from Punjab. His primary role was batting. He played for Punjab, Haryana, and Railways. He had played 37 test matches and 42 one-day matches. His batting performance is good, evident in his average of 33 and 28, respectively. He also served as a national selector for the Indian cricket team.

6. Vijay Mehra

The next player on our list is Vijay Mehra. He had played 109 first-class matches, where he averaged 34. He had played 8 test matches for the Indian team averaging 25. He scored two half-centuries in his short career in red ball cricket.

7. Yograj Singh

The next player on our list is Yograj Singh. He is the father of legendary cricketer Yuvraj Singh. He played one test match for the Indian cricket team and 6 one day matches. He did not perform well in those matches. He is an actor by profession too. Later, he indulged in controversy as he accused Virat and MS Dhoni.  He has acted in more than 50 films in the Punjabi film industry.

8. Yuvraj Singh

The next player in our article is Yuvraj Singh. He is a member of the 2007 and 2011 world cup winning teams. His primary role is of an all-rounder. He is a left-handed batsman and left-arm slow orthodox bowler. He is famous for hitting six sixes in an over. He was awarded man of the tournament in the 2011 world cup. In his career, he suffered a lot due to his health ailments. He, unfortunately, had to face cancer. But his career had a downfall after his health issues. He also had good Indian Premier League seasons.

9. Harbhajan Singh 

The next player in our article is Harbhajan Singh. He is a great Indian slow orthodox bowler. He has played 103 test matches, 236 one-day matches, and 28 t20i. He is a member of the 2007 and 2011 world cup winning teams. In his Indian Premier League career, he played for MI, CSK, and KKR. He joined the commentator club after the 1st innings of his career.

10. Shubman Gill 

The next player on our list is Shubman Gill. He is an Indian cricketer hailing from Punjab. He is a right-handed opening batsman. He is a member of the under-19 world cup winning team too. He received the player of the tournament too. He is a young budding player of Indian cricket. He has played 15 tests, 24 one day, and 6 t20i matches. He holds the record for the highest individual score in t20i and is the youngest player to score a double hundred. He plays for Gujarat Titans in Indian Premier League.
