One of the most popular social networking sites in the world is Twitter. It is a forum where people may express their ideas and opinions on any subject. The website has gained popularity since everyone may express their opinions in the form of tweets without restriction, from street vendors to presidents. There have also been several controversies started by past Indian cricket players.  Let us look at former Indian cricketers who have created controversies on Twitter.

1. Ambati Rayudu

As India's World Cup team was selected in 2019, Ambati Rayudu made the news with a tweet. Rayudu's subpar performance at the time led to his exclusion from the World Cup Tour. In response to the selection committee referring to Vijay Shankar as a three-dimensional player, Rayudu attempted to mock them in a satirical tweet that read, "Just ordered a new set of 3D glasses to watch the World Cup." Rayudu was upset with the decision.

2. Harbhajan Singh

About Indian cricket fans breaking their televisions when their country lost previous World Cup tournaments, Amir tweeted (in Hindi) "Did Harbhajan break his TV?" after Pakistan defeated India by 10 wickets in the T20 World Cup. Unable to resist the urge, Harbhajan tweeted "Now you're also talking? " After recording himself striking a six against Pakistan in the final over. Have you seen these six on television? Amir and Harbhajan started accusing one another of match manipulation after exchanging a few tweets, and Harbhajan turned up the heat by calling Amir a disgrace and a black mark on cricket.

3. Sanjay Manjrekar

Manjrekar characterized Jadeja as a "bit and pieces player" at the 2019 World Cup. Jadeja attacked him on Twitter for using the words "bits and pieces," which he didn't like. He told the ex-cricketer that he had already played more matches than him and called him out for spitting verbal diarrhea. Jadeja, though, had the last laugh when he scored an incredible 77 off 59 balls against New Zealand in the semifinal, nearly leading India to win by himself.

4. Akash Chopra

Aakash Chopra, a former Indian cricketer, is currently embroiled in a dispute over an old tweet he made regarding prominent batter Rohit Sharma. It started when he and Venkatesh Prasad got into an argument about KL Rahul. Rohit was not considered deserving enough to be in the squad, according to Akash Chopra. He received a lot of negative feedback for this.

5. Venkatesh Prasad

Former Indian bowler Venkatesh Prasad has posted 18 tweets in the past 20 days to voice his discontent and argue against KL Rahul's selection for the Test team. Aakash Chopra, a former Test cricketer, and YouTuber was the target of a lengthy thread that spanned seven postings after he questioned the timeliness of his criticism. This KL discussion includes claims of favoritism, charges of advancing an agenda, Chopra's invitation to a live debate, and Prasad's denial that he "doesn’t intend to engage with you."

6. Suresh Raina

His account posted a tweet making fun of the Pakistan cricket team. the tweet was posted after Sri Lanka defeated Pakistan in the World T20 semifinal match in Colombo. The nasty tweet was removed after receiving widespread criticism on Twitter. The left-handed cricketer explained and laid the responsibility at the feet of his nephew. As he tweeted: "Smartphones are risky. I learned about it last night after my nephew tweeted at random. Being an athlete, I never show disrespect."

7. Virendra Sehwag

When he tweeted on Saturday about the mob lynching in Kerala where a mentally challenged tribal man was beaten to death for allegedly stealing food from neighborhood shops, Virender Sehwag, who is known for his humorous social media tweets, sparked a debate. In a tweet, Sehwag stated, "Madhu stole 1 kilogram of rice. The poor tribal man was killed by a lynch mob made up of Ubaid, Hussain, and Abdul Kareem. Such behavior is unbecoming of a civilized society. Yet, by only mentioning some of the accused's names on social media, the former cricketer faced criticism.

8. Gautam Gambhir

On Yuvraj Singh's 41st birthday, congratulations came in from all around the world. The supporters, however, did not seem to like one of Gautam Gambhir's posts. The former Indian opener, who was instrumental in India's victory in the 2007 T20 and 2011 World Cup finals, dubbed Yuvraj Singh "the best white-ball cricketer India has produced," which some cricket fans didn't appreciate because they disagreed with Gambhir's opinions.

9. Ravi Shastri

IPL Chairman Brijesh Patel, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah, and the BCCI medical staff were all thanked in a tweet sent out on Tuesday following the conclusion of IPL 2020 by the head coach of the Indian cricket team, Ravi Shastri. This tweet, however, caused a stir because it omitted the name of BCCI president Sourav Ganguly. He drew criticism for omitting Ganguly's name.

10. Yuvraj Singh

It was a tribute film that was first published by the "Gems of Cricket" page. The video's central idea was how a dialogue between a young Yuvraj and the present-day Yuvraj might go. When Yuvraj Singh re-posted the video, he omitted a section that included a picture of him and former India captain MS Dhoni together, which caused a stir. The Dhoni-Yuvraj image appears in the original video at 0:37 seconds but is absent from Yuvi's version. The Twitterati saw this right away and vented their frustration on the microblogging platform.
