Undoubtedly, IPL is the biggest T20 league in the world, and every cricketer in the world wants to play IPL. Due to only 20 overs, scoring a century in IPL is not easy for any batsman. Even though many batters have been able to achieve a century. But some few unlucky players scored a century but still their team lost that match.

1. Andrew Symonds

IPL 2008 was the inaugural IPL season and it was fascinating to see players from every international team playing in the same team. In 2008, Despite all the controversy related to Monkeygate, Andrew Symonds played IPL. In the 9th match against Rajasthan Royals, he scored a century as well. In the game, Deccan Chargers batted first where Andrew Symonds played an excellent innings of 117 off 53 runs which helped Deccan Chargers to reach a total of 214 runs. But his innings did not lead his team to victory as Rajasthan Royals managed to win the match by three wickets.

2. Sachin Tendulkar

It was the 13th match of IPL 2011 when Sachin Tendulkar scored his first-ever IPL century. In this match, Mumbai Indians played against Kochi Tuskers, where Kochi Tuskers won the toss and chose to bowl first. Mumbai batted, and Sachin Tendulkar showed his master class. In the match, Sachin Tendulkar scored 100 off 66 balls, by which Mumbai Indians scored 182 runs in 20 overs. The target was reasonably defendable for Mumbai Indians, but Brendon McCullum played an outstanding innings of 81 runs, and Kochi Tuskers won the match by eight wickets.

3. Shane Watson

Shane Watson is one of the finest all-rounders that has ever played IPL. In the 30th match of IPL 2013 against Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals batted first. In the game, Shane Watson played an exceptional innings of 101 in 61 balls and helped Rajasthan Royals score 185 runs in 20 overs. From CSK, Michael Hussey played crucial innings of 81 and Suresh Raina also scored 55 runs. As a result, Shane Watson’s fantastic century could not win the match for his team as his century went in vain and Rajasthan Royals won the game by five wickets.

4. Wriddhiman Saha

It was the final match of IPL 2014, played between Kolkata Knight Riders and Kings XI Punjab at Bengaluru. In the last game, KKR won the toss and chose to bowl first. Punjab lost its first wicket at only 23 runs. After that, Wriddhiman Saha came to bat, and played the most important innings for Punjab. In the match, Wriddhiman Saha scored 115 off 55 balls, and due to his innings, Punjab set the target of 200 runs. The target was difficult to chase for KKR, but due to Manish Pandey’s 94 runs innings, KKR won the final by three wickets.

5. Virat Kohli

In IPL 2016 against Gujarat Lions, Virat Kohli scored his first-ever IPL century. It was the 19th match of IPL 2016, where RCB and Gujarat Lions played against each other. In the game, RCB batted first, and it was the same match where Virat Kohli completed his maiden IPL century. He brilliantly scored a mind-blowing inning of 100 in 63 balls which helped RCB and they set a score of 180 runs. Unfortunately, Virat Kohli’s first IPL century did not lead his team to victory as Gujarat Lions managed to win the match by six wickets.

6. Steve Smith

There are only a few cricket viewers who know that Steve Smith has also scored an IPL century. It was the 25th match of IPL 2016 where the Rising Pune Supergiants played against Gujarat Lions. In the game, Pune batted first, and Steve Smith scored his only IPL century in that match. Steve Smith brilliantly played an outstanding innings of 101 off 54 balls. As a result, Pune scored 195 runs in 20 overs. But Gujarat’s batting order showed their batting excellence and they won the match in the last by three wickets.

7. Rishab Pant

It was the 42nd match of IPL 2008 when Delhi Daredevils played against Sunrisers Hyderabad. In the game, Delhi won the toss and decided to bat first. Even though Delhi’s opening pair could not score big runs, Rishab Pant controlled innings and exceptionally scored a century. In this innings, Rishab Pant played a sensational innings and scored 128 off 63 balls, which helped Delhi to score 187 runs in 20 overs. Despite playing such an important and brilliant innings, Delhi Daredevils could not win the match and SRH snatches the victory by nine wickets.

8. Ruturaj Gaikwad

In the 47th match of IPL 2021 against Rajasthan Royals, Ruturaj Gaikwad scored his first-ever IPL century. In the match, Rajasthan Royals won the toss and decided to bowl first. From CSK, Ruturaj Gaikwad batted outstanding and scored 101 off 60 runs. By the end of 20 overs, CSK scored 189 runs, which was defendable against Rajasthan Royals. But due to Yashasvi Jaiswal’s fiery 50 and Shivam Dube’s 64 runs, Ruturaj’s century went in vain, and Rajasthan Royals won the match by seven wickets.

9. Heinrich Klaasen

Heinrich Klaasen is one of the most destructive batsmen in the world because Klaasen can smash any bowling lineup. It was the 65th match of IPL 2023 when SRH played against RCB. In the game, RCB won the toss and decided to bowl first. SRH came to bat but did not get a good start. After losing four wickets at only 104 runs, Heinrich Klaasen chose to accelerate the innings and after that, he played outstanding innings of 104 off just 51 balls, by which SRH set the score of 186 runs in 20 overs. However, due to Kohli’s century and du Plessis’s 71 runs, RCB won the match by eight wickets.

10. Virat Kohli

It was the 70th and last league match of IPL 2023 which was compulsory to win for RCB if they want to qualify for the playoffs. In the game against Gujarat Titans, Gujarat won the toss and decided to bowl first. From RCB, only Virat Kohli was able to score big runs. In the game, Virat Kohli played an impeccable innings of 101 runs in 61 balls, which helped RCB to set the target of 197 runs in 20 overs. On the other hand, Gujarat Titans lost wickets at regular intervals, but Shubman Gill did not lose his wicket and played a match-winning innings of 104 off just 52 balls. As a result, Gujarat Titans won the match by six wickets.
