Many people say that India produces good spin bowlers but not fast bowlers. However, many Indian medium-fast bowlers have performed exceptionally well throughout their careers for the Indian cricket team, and we can say the same for the IPL. IPL is the platform that has given so many opportunities to the rising fast bowlers. Some fast bowlers have become the leader of the pace attack for their respective IPL teams. IPL has also helped foreign fast bowlers to enhance their skills. The following list shows the top ten Indian fast bowlers with the highest wickets in the IPL.

1. Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Bhuvneshwar Kumar played his first IPL game in 2011. Bhuvi has represented Sunrisers Hyderabad and Pune Warriors India in his IPL career. The medium-fast bowler has taken 142 wickets in 132 IPL matches at 7.0 runs per over with one five-wicket haul and best bowling figures of 5/19. Kumar won the purple cap on two occasions- in 2016 and 2017.

2. Jasprit Bumrah

Boom-Boom Bumrah made his IPL debut in 2013. The yorker king has been a part of Mumbai Indians since his IPL debut. Bumrah has picked up 130 wickets in 106 IPL matches at 7.0 runs per over with the best bowling figures of 4/14.

3. Umesh Yadav

The right-arm fast bowler made his first IPL appearance in 2010. He has gone on to play for Delhi Daredevils, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Royal Challengers Bangalore in his IPL career. Umesh picked up 119 wickets in 121 IPL matches at 8.5 runs per over with the best bowling figures of 4/24.

4. Sandeep Sharma

Sandeep Sharma is an underrated medium-fast bowler who usually goes unnoticed in the IPL. Sandeep made his IPL debut in 2013 and has represented franchises like Kings XI Punjab (Punjab Kings now) and Sunrisers Hyderabad in his IPL career. He has picked up 112 wickets in 99 IPL matches at 7.7 runs per over with the best bowling figures of 4/20.

5. Ashish Nehra

Ashish Nehra was a part of various franchises like Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Pune Warriors India, Delhi Daredevils, and Mumbai Indians in his IPL career after making his debut in the inaugural edition. Nehra Ji played 88 IPL matches and took 106 wickets at 7.8 runs per over with the best bowling figures of 4/10. The left-arm seamer announced his retirement from all forms of cricket in 2017.

6. R Vinay Kumar

Vinay Kumar made his first IPL appearance in the inaugural edition in 2008. He made appearances for Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Kochi Tuskers Kerela in his IPL career. Vinay was a part of 105 IPL matches and picked up 105 wickets at 8.3 runs per over with the best bowling figures of 4/40.

7. Zaheer Khan

The legendary left-arm fast bowler was a part of many IPL franchises such as Delhi Daredevils, Mumbai Indians, and Royal Challengers Bangalore in his  IPL career after his debut in the inaugural edition in 2008. Zak picked up 102 wickets in 100 IPL matches at 7.5 runs per over with the best bowling performance of 4/17. Zaheer played his last IPL match in the 2017 edition of the IPL.

8. Mohit Sharma

Mohit Sharma is a right-arm medium-fast bowler who represented India in the 2015 World Cup after the good performances in the previous IPL editions. He made his IPL debut in 2013 and represented Chennai Super Kings, Kings XI Punjab, and Delhi Capitals (formerly Delhi Daredevils) in his IPL career. Mohit appeared in 86 IPL matches and scalped 92 wickets at 8.4 runs per over with the best bowling figures of 4/14. He won the purple cap in the 2014 edition of IPL.

9. RP Singh

The left-arm medium-fast bowler was instrumental in taking India to victory in the 2007 T20 World Cup. RP made his first IPL appearance in 2008 and was a part of franchises such as Deccan Chargers, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Rising Pune Supergiant, Mumbai Indians, and Kochi Tuskers Kerela in his IPL career. Singh picked up 90 wickets in 82 IPL matches at 7.9 runs per over with the best bowling figures of 4/22. RP was the leading wicket-taker in the 2009 edition of the IPL.

10. Praveen Kumar

Praveen Kumar first appeared in the IPL in the first edition in 2008. PK made appearances for Royal Challengers Bangalore, Gujarat Lions, Mumbai Indians, Kings XI Punjab, and Sunrisers Hyderabad. Praveen was a part of 119 IPL matches and picked up 90 wickets at 7.7 runs per over with the best bowling performance of 3/18. He did not play an IPL match after the 2017 edition.
