Imagine if you are in your debut game for your national team; what is your dream to achieve for your country? I think most of you want to win the world cup for your country. Like-wise many players want to win the world cup for their nation.  Here are some players who played as crucial players of the team but didn’t get chance in world cup squad.

1. Ishant Sharma

Ishant Sharma is an Indian cricketer who is currently representing India in test format. He is a tall Indian right-arm pacer and one among the best bowlers in Indian team history. He started his career in 2006. He retired in ODI and T20I in 2016 and 2013, respectively. He has around 450 in international cricket but still didn’t play a single game in the world cup for India.

2. Ambati Rayudu

Ambati Thirupathi Rayudu is an Indian professional cricketer and current captain of the Andhra team in the Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy championship. He plays as a Right-hand middle-order batsman and an occasional wicket-keeper.  He played for team India in a limited over format since 2013 and has yet to take a place in the world cup squad.

3. Irfan Pathan

Irfan Pathan is a former Indian cricketer. He was bowling all-rounder. He has represented India in all three formats since 2003. He was one of the crucial players on the Indian team.  He represented the Indian team in the 2007 ICC twenty20 world-cup and was also a member of the 2013 champions- trophy team. Even though he won two international trophies, he never played in the ODI world cup for India.

4. Parthiv Patel

Parthiv Ajay Patel is a former Indian professional cricketer, wicket-keeper batsman, and member of the Indian national team. He was a left-handed attacking opening batsman who played international cricket from 2002-2018. He was not a regular player but a well-known cricketer in India.  Parthiv Patel never played a world cup game in his entire career.

5. Alastair Cook

Sir Alastair Cook is a legendary English cricketer who played for England in all international formats from 2006 to 2018. This legendary English batsman played over 250 international games for England and scored around 15k runs. He also captained the England team. But he never played a world cup game in his career.

6. Lakshmipathy Balaji

Lakshmipathy Balaji is an Indian cricket coach and former cricketer. He is a right-arm fast-medium bowler. He played international cricket from 2002 and announced his retirement in 2009.  He is currently coaching the IPL team Chennai super kings. He had the potential to be the greatest fast bowler, but the only problem is he is injury prone. That is also the main reason; he didn’t get a chance in national team squad for world cup.

7. Matthew Hoggard

Matthew Hoggard is a former English cricketer who played international cricket for the England cricket team from 2000-08, playing both test and ODI.  He played only 93 international games but got 280 international wickets. This right-arm quick bowler is a potential asset, but he didn’t get any chance in the world cup squad for England.

8. Cheteshwar Pujara

Chesteshwar Arvind Pujara is an Indian international cricketer who has played mainly test cricket for the Indian national team. He has played international cricket since 2010 and has played 100+ games for India. Pujara is a legendary cricketer but didn’t play a single world cup game for India.

9. Justin Langer

Justin Lee Langer is an Australian cricket coach and former cricketer. He coached the Australian national team from 2018-22. He played for the Australian team from 1993 to 97 and played more than 100 test matches for Australia. Though he is a legendary player, he never called for Australian the world cup team squad, but he managed the Australian team for their 5th world cup.  A fact is that he coached the Australian team in the world cup, but he never played in the world cup.

10. Vvs Laxman

VVS Laxman is a former Indian cricketer & a former commentator. He is a legendary middle-order batsman and one of the leading players in the history of the Indian national team. He played more than 200 games for India. Shockingly, this legendary cricketer never played in world cup.
